Thank you for reading my forum entries and for your interest in the changes at the Greenhouse Effect.

The discount coupons are printed on slips of paper and you get one for each day of your stay for each person checking in. So me and my swiss friend got 8 vouchers for discount when we checked in because we are 2 people staying 4 nights.

If you make a purchase of 50 euro then you will get a 2 euro discount and pay only 48 euro but I think it would be a better idea to make 2 purchases of 25 euro and then save 4 euro.

The menu at the coffeeshop changes on a regular basis according to what is available but the staff will be happy to help you make a good choice, plus the menu has good descriptions of the product and the type of effects you can expect.

I hope this has been useful information for you and I hope you enjoy your stay at the Greenhouse Effect Hotel as much as I always do.

Wednesday morning in Amsterdam and once again I have had my early breakfast at the Greenhouse Effect as well as an early morning stroll around the area. I just had my 1st toke of the day, some of the "aka Shoreline" which I had purchased at Voyagers yesterday afternoon. Nice smooth morning buzz with my English Breakfast Tea.

I'll soon be making my way back to Voyagers this morning to meet with the cool ACD folks who will also be in attendance. I'll be arriving alone since my Swiss friend will still be waking up. He tends to get a little later start on the day. I'll be armed with a video camera and I will be shooting additional raw video for a future clip to be featured on YouTube.

Not much else on my agenda for the day. Except maybe a trek down to Rijksmuseum for a video opportunity with the I AM Amsterdam display.

Moar to come!

Well, it's Thursday morning and this will be my last full day in Amsterdam. I have just finished my early breakfast here at the Greenhouse Effect and decided to do a quick update of yesterday's events.

I arrived at 11am at the scheduled T&T at Voyagers where gapie was waiting with FlyByNite. It was an honor to meet the man and the mind behind the Amsterdam Coffeeshop menus which has been a great service to all of us foilks who like to keep up with the weed trends here in Mokum.

We had a break in the gloomy weather yesterday afternoon and there was a lot of sunshine which made walking around the city even nicer, but I missed hooking up with gapie and FlyByNite because I made my trek down to Rijksmuseum where I shot some cool video at the I Am Amsterdam display in front of the museum.

Later my Swiss friend and I spent some good time visiting with other hotel guests and patrons at the Greenhouse Effect Bar. This has got to be one of the most comfortable places on Warmoesstraat and I will always recommend the Greenhouse Effect as a destination location. Early in the evening we ate at the Indian Resaurant Kama Sutra at Lange Niezel 9 which is just around the corner from the Greenhouse Effect. I had the Chicken Tikka and asked for a little extra spicey... Whew! It was delicious but very spicey and it set me on fire! The spice sure did not hamper my appetite! The food was delicious, the service was attentive and the the prices reasonable for this area.

Some people have asked me what "reasonable" prices are for this area and for me that means that 2 people can eat well for under 40 euro. Of course, this is at a sit-down restaurant with waiters and plates and silverware. If I wanted to eat for less, I could easily do so.

Today I must buy and fill out and mail some post cards to friends. Other than that, my agenda has me going to T&T sessions scheduled at Betty Boop and 420 Cafe. I'm looking forward to these events and I hope there will be a good turn out for them today.

It's been a blast so far!

Here we go with another quick update,

Our scheduled T&T sessions were pretty cool except for some bizarre behavior from the budtender at Betty Boop. I am not the one who used the term "nazi" when describing his strange outburst but it might be an apt term. This is the 1st time I have ever encountered a situation where the attendant on duty at a coffeeshop refused to sell drinks to people who were visiting the shop without first purchasing weed. When no one went downstairs to buy weed, it seemed that the irritated budtender became aggravated and had a bit of a temper tantrum. Such a shame since this has always been one of my favorite spots to visit.

The following session at 420 Cafe was attended by more people and I can't name then all but I do know I met Hestia and Winnie. (I think I have the names correct), After this event broke up, my Swiss friend and I went to get an early supper, eating at the Restaurant New Season on Warmoesstraat. This was by far the most reasonably priced of all the other restaurants I have visited on this trip. The food was delicious and the service was excellent and I recommend this restaurant not only for those reasons but also for the extremely fair and reasonable prices on the menu.

After I finished my meal, I dropped off my Swiss friend at the Greenhouse Effect Bar and headed down to 't Nes. This is also a smoker friendly bar that was once also a coffeeshop. I met up with more cool ACD folks during the time I was there and I was left with the impression that Nes must be one of the busiest bars in town judging from the crowded eclectic mix of tourists and local regulars.

I am now back at the Greenhouse Effect Bar where I will spend the rest of the evening toking up the rest of my stash before taking that sad walk up the steep stairs to pack my things to prepare for My Unfortunate Return to the States.

I have captured some cool raw video. I'll be posting a variety of clips on YouTube so stay tuned for more!

I am very fortunate to have met some of you cool people at the Greenhouse Effect coffeeshop where gapie, jollylittlehun and smokeze all gathered for a T&T... the place was crowded and very busy. We moved to Voyager's for awhile and then the fun continued at Batavia Cafe before I made my way out to Almere Haven. Got some great lodging here!

Smoked a variety of weeds today in euro-styled joints (mixed with tobacco) but I have been enjoying the pure sativa Citronella from Utopia which was my 1st purchase and 1st toke of the day after arriving. I met jwall at the airport and we took the train into Centraal Station together and then after getting our luggage situated, we stopped at Utopia and met Ingi and she was super-helpful and very happy to show me the various weeds she had available for sale. Expect video of this shop to appear on YouTube.

Yep that was a fun day what we smoked at Utopia blow me a way; that was the first smoke I had in three to four years then you wanted me to find some place in a city I was never in before I know I walked right past it and missed it so I ended up lost for four hours I finally found central train station and got back to my hotel. I had a great time wondering around; and got myself a better map of the area!

For the past 10 weeks now, I've been editing the raw video I shot during this trip. In case you have missed the videos as I have posted them, I am going to repost them here:

I Am Amsterdam

Thursday, 12 April 2012:

During my second week in Europe, I go for some sight-seeing in Amsterdam. It was a beautiful day for a leisurely walk down to Museumplein where visitors from all over the world gather for interesting photo opportunities.

In this video, you'll see the public area in front of the Rijksmuseum. This includes the reflecting pool and the "I amsterdam" attraction. Scenes of the area with a variety of visitors enjoying the beauiful spring day are also included.

The original music is performed by Kevin MacLeod and it is provided royalty free from http://www.incompetech.com/

One Day at Coffeeshop Voyagers

Saturday, 31 March 2012:

After spending my first night in Netherlands with friends in Almere Haven, I followed up on plans to meet for a "Toke & Talk" session at Coffeeshop Voyagers. This is a coffeeshop I had walked by on several occasions in the past and never really gave it much thought, but after doing some pre-trip research at the Amsterdam Coffeeshop Directory, I knew this was a shop that I needed to visit.

The weather was sunny with mostly clear blue skies but still quite a bit of chill in the wind. I took the train from Almere to Amsterdam and made my way over to the shop to meet my friends. Conveniently located across from Centraal Station at the Metro, this small and comfortable coffeeshop has built an excellent reputation for being a professionally run and respectable source for top quality gear.

The video opens with scenes of the exterior of the coffeeshop and hotel, located at Geldersekade 2, quaintly situated next to a canal. As I enter the shop, I stop to review the house rules as they are conspicuously posted on the door. The brief scenes from inside the shop also feature a couple of fellow partiers, doing what we do when in Amsterdam.

You'll also get to see the shop's mascot cats, on harness and leash, as they keep watch over the proceedings. On this day, the shop was busy with several locals and regulars as well as travelers from all over the world who were all enjoying the relaxed and casual atmosphere.

Voyager's and Utopia are my new 2 favorite places which I discovered on this year's trip. I have to give all the thanks to the fine contributors of ACD in helping me to discover these 2 shops which I had never even considered before.

Thanks for viewing my vids.

A Visit to Coffeeshop Spirit

Saturday, 31 March 2012:

After meeting at Voyagers several of us made our way around to a few other coffeeshops eventually making a stop at Coffeeshop Spirit where there were pinball machines and a pool table.

Still a beautiful day for a walk, like a tour group, we hiked outside of the Centrum to locate this unique destination, mostly unspoiled by gawking tourists. Located in the Jordaan district, west of the Centrum, this spacious and comfortable coffeeshop is much like an American gameroom with pinball machines and a pool table.

The video opens with street scenes from in front of the shop, located at Westerstraat 121, featuring the traffic of pedestrians on the sidewalk and cars and bikes on the street. You'll also see scenes of the exterior of the coffeeshop situated in a busy but quiet neighborhood. The scenes from inside the shop feature a look at the various games available in the smoking lounge.

You'll also get to see several people passing time playing pool and pinball. On this day, there were a few of us enjoying each other's company in the relaxed and casual atmosphere.

The original music is performed by Kevin MacLeod and it is provided royalty free from http://www.incompetech.com/
