My visit to Spirit was nice and I was glad it was on the list of shops that gapie wanted to visit. I had already made plans to go there to get some scenes of the pinball machines at the request of my friends who are pinball fanatics. My regret is that I didn't get any shots of the menu.

A Visit to Cafe Batavia 1920

Saturday, 31 March 2012:

This was my first visit to Cafe Batavia 1920, located neat Centraal Station at Prins Hendrikkade 85. I was not aware that this bar and resataurant had a casual lounge area where cannabis smokers are encouraged to congregate.

On this day, gapie, jollylittlehun and myself were lucky enough to get seated at the best table in the lounge, next to the window with a canal view.

I enjoyed my visit here so much, I came back later with additional friends to enjoy a pleasant meal.

The original music is performed by Kevin MacLeod and it is provided royalty free from http://www.incompetech.com/

Gathering at Coffeeshop Siberië

Saturday, 31 March 2012:

As our day of coffeeshop crawling got underway we made an early stop at Coffeeshop Siberië located at Brouwersgracht 11, along the quaint and pleasant Brouwersgracht canal.

The video opens with street scenes from in front of the shop, located at Brouwersgracht 11, featuring the picturesque Brouwersgracht. You'll also see scenes of the exterior of the coffeeshop. The scenes from inside the shop feature a POV look at the interior as seen from the large table at the front of the shop.

The original music is performed by Kevin MacLeod and it is provided royalty free from http://www.incompetech.com/

I'm the man behind the camera! I don't appear on screen in the Cafe Batavia 1920 video but I do in others, most notable, I Am Amsterdam.

Thanks for viewing my other videos, I'm glad you enjoy them.

Meeting at Coffeeshop 137

Saturday, 31 March 2012:

As our day of coffeeshop crawling continued we made anonother stop further down Brouwersgracht at Coffeeshop 137, formerly known as Sturgis located at Brouwersgracht 137, in the Jordaan district across from the little iron drawbridge on the canal.

The video opens with exterior shots and street scenes from the corner of Brouwersgracht and Willemsstraat. The scenes from inside the shop feature a look through the large windows as our little group has taken over the table and seats at the front of the shop. You'll also get a good look at the menu and the featured items and prices.

Eating at La Grotte

Toward the end of the day of coffeeshop crawling jollylittlhun and myself went for food at La Grotte breakfastbar on Haarlemmerstraat situated among several well known coffeeshops. La Grotte also calls itself a coffeeshop, but only in the respect that they sell coffee in a smoker friendly environment. They have a selection of smoking apparatus for use if you happen to be without a pipe of your own, but they do not sell the herb from that location.

You'll find La Grotte at Haarlemmerstraat 34 in the Western Main Canals district near Centraal Station. This pleasant diner is situated in a prime location with the nearest coffeeshops being Popeye just across the street and Dampkring 2 just a few steps away. The food menu features favorites such as breakfast, frites, toasties and salads among other popular items, reasonably priced and served by friendly staff in a relaxed atmosphere.

The video features pictures of the food we ordered during our visit and then continues with an extended view of the pedestrian traffic passing by on the sidewalk as well as the bicycle and motor taffic that make up this typical street scene from the corner of Buiten Vissersstraat and Haarlemmerstraat.

The original music is performed by Kevin MacLeod and it is provided royalty free from http://www.incompetech.com/

Scenes from Oudebrugsteeg

This is a typical scene on most any given day on Oudebrugsteeg in the shadow of the very tourist-oriented coffeeshop Grasshopper 2, bar and restaurant.

Grasshopper 2 is located at Oudebrugsteeg 16 easily visible and recognizable from Centraal Station, it is a landmark meeting point for many new arrivals. Standing just outside the building provides a breathtaking panorama of daily activity as the tourists come and go, filtering into and out of the Redlight District.

You can get a sense of the vibe and the energy of Amsterdam from this brief view of the hustle and bustle of the pedestrian traffic documented in this video.

The original music is performed by Kevin MacLeod and it is provided royalty free from http://www.incompetech.com/

Coffeeshop Utopia

Thursday, 12 April 2012:

In the afternoon on the day before I was scheduled to fly back to the USA, I attended a pre-planned Toke-and-Talk session at Coffeeshop Utopia located at Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 132, just a few steps away from the local Police station and the Church of Scientology.

The video opens with exterior shots and street scenes from the sidewalk in front of the shop. Entering the bright and cheerful lounge and gallery, I pause to take a look at the house rules as they are posted at the entrance. Since the shop is also an art gallery, you'll see some examples of the art on display and for sale. You'll also get a look at the members of our little group of T&T participants as we enjoy the ambiance.

Moving to the dealer's booth and service counter at the back of the shop you'll get a view of the length of the shop and through the large front window as cars, bikes and trams pass by on the busy Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal. After looking at the menu, the budtender, Ingi, lets me have a good look at some of the better quality products as I am granted unprecedented access to document the shop as it appeared in the spring of 2012. Finally, you'll get to watch as my order is weighed out on digital scales.

A Visit to Baba Souvenir Shop

Monday, 9 April 2012:

Baba Souvenir Shop, located at Warmoesstraat 47, is widely regarded as one of the best headshops in the Centrum. Affiliated with the world-famous Baba Coffeeshop, just down the street, this outlet has a variety of souvenirs, gifts and keepsakes. They also sell seeds and a large assortment of smoking accessories and paraphernalia.

In this video, you'll see a sampling of the inventory on display inside this popular shop. Not only is it an impressive assortment but the prices are quite reasonable for the Centrum. I have always received prompt and courteous service when I have visited this shop in the past. My friends and I heartily receommend this shop for any of your paraphernalia needs.

Right on! I was looking forward to sparking up with you again. Just in case you get the chance, I will be in Amsterdam on 13, 14 and 15 April, then off to Switzerland, returning to Amsterdam on 23 April until I leave on the morning of 28 April.

I still have some decent video from last year which I have not yet edited into features, but there will be more to come...

Enjoy!
