My Triumphant Return In Progress
Re: My Triumphant Return In Progress
Hey DRA, I've taken that train to Almere Muziekwijk a couple of times to stay with a friend who lives there, but have never been as far as Almere Centraal. Have you been to any of the coffeeshops in Almere? I haven't, just wondering if any are worth a visit. Have a great trip

Thanks for that info, Gapie. No need then to waste time and look for coffeeshops there when I can be in Amsterdam or Haarlem. Cheers mate, looking forward to May.

I have been to the coffeeshop in Almere-stad called "de Blowboot", it's a coffeeshop ON A BOAT in a canal. And yes, they do want to look at your ID, they write down some info, like what country you're from, I don't understand it myself, but that's what they do. The experience at the Boat is different also because you get your herb at teller windows underneath a large menu board with strains and prices displayed. You're expected to have your mind made up before you get up to the window, you place your order and someone behind the person you talk to weighs it out while the person at the window files your paperwork. You do not have an opportunity to see and/or smell the product so you are really just trusting that you're getting what you're ordering. I took a lady friend here in 2007 and it was her first experience at purchasing herb, it's handled like a banking transaction so it's not too scary! hahah! Also, over in Almere Haven, there is a small coffeeshop called Chillie Kiki, I went here once but only for a buy and fly, I did not stay and smoke at the shop and I do not think they took any of my information when I made my purchase. I am unable to find an ACD page for this shop but here is their web site: http://www.chilliekiki.nl/
No shots of the coffeeshop, but here's a video of the shopping district in Almere Haven as it was in April of 2009:
Thanks!

Good tips for sure, will check out the Chillie Kiki if I have time. The Blowboot sounds a bit too bureaucratic. I'm only staying in Almere for 2 of 15 days of the trip (May 31, June 1). Just spoke with my friend in Almere, who has lived there since 2010, says that she's never once purchased anything from a CS in that town. Instead she goes once a week to Club Media or Katsu in De Pijp, but also said she's open to trying one in Almere. Can't wait to hear about your April journey
