Another quick trip from myself just before the celebrations, I fancied a short break in the Dam as the weather is getting a little warmer. My last trip in December was great but wandering around outside is not quite so fun when you have a face full of North Sea winds. Flew out from Luton on the first flight of the day after waking at 3 a.m. to drive myself to the airport. Arrived at Centraal station at around 9 a.m. so a 6 hour journey door-to-door
I started with the usual wander around the centre just to acclimatise and remember landmarks etc. I tried my luck at the hotel to see if I could check-in early but no-go though I was at least able to store my ruck-sack in their luggage room. I was worried about the weather as it was looking to be rainy but the morning was very pleasant even bringing some Spring sun so with this in mind my first stop would be Club Media, I love this coffee shop it is such a great place to hang out and of course sells high quality and consistently good gear
Being a sativa man I asked to look at their most peppy strains so the bud tender immediately pulled out the Champagne Haze and I was hit with the most wonderful fizzy and zingy aroma. It smelled like how sherbert tastes if you get what I mean and is very aptly named. I also looked at their silver bubble, amnesia and cannalope but did not have the same appeal although they still looked good. I sat and chilled with a cup of tea and browsed my tablet PC after the bud tender offered me the log-in details. I planned to return later to check out their cheaper indicas as I find this place has very reasonable prices despite having the best quality gear along with Voyagers. The champagne is most expensive sativa (and thus most expensive overall) on the menu but is worth every cent because it is beautiful, like a proud vegetable or flower gardener, I think the grower should be very pleased with this creation which is perfectly grown, smells out of this world and is a heavy hitter on the cranium.
As I was in the area I wanted to check out Mellow Yellow as I fell in love with their S5 Haze I tried about a year ago, back then it had this very distinctive hazy almost puke-like aroma: I know I'm not selling this well but the smell was great haha. Anyway their menu has changed slightly, the S5 haze is no longer on a 5g deal but instead the price per single gram has fallen from E13 to E12 so this may allow some of you who thought E13 too expensive to perhaps try. I wanted the bulk deal however so I did not even ask to look at the tub, I asked to look at the blueberry but wasn't overly impressed so quickly left. As Noon is in the area and has a near-identical menu I figured I'd give it a go. After walking past the shop twice (yes that's right twice. It's not the first time I have walked straight past a coffee shop as many of them are very unassuming and tucked away that it is so easy to do especially with the more out-of-centre establishments) I saw it from the opposite side of the canal just as I was about to give up, I walked inside to find a fairly small but comfy looking shop and the friendly tender showed me the menu. Here, the S5 is still on a 5g deal so after looking and finding that distinctive aroma I asked for a bag of hazy puke-weed and found myself floating off into the stratosphere. This is strong, uplifting intense sativa at it's best. As a note the bluberry is also cheaper on deal than MY, you can get 4g for E23 rather than E25 for 4g at MY. Also, written by hand was 'temple Balls E9' which some of you may be interested to check out. I personally didn't look as I'm not much of a hash man
It was now time to head back to the centre as it was getting towards check-in time. I made a slight detour along Klovenstraat (sp?) past Basjoe and up to Voyagers. I was keen to see their bottom end sativas - namely wild lemon haze and chocolope - which are very reasonably priced. I looked at both tubs and was blown away by both, they were very good examples of their respective strains but I went for the lemon haze which had a wonderful citrusy and refreshing smell. The quality is excellent as usual, I was lucky enough to try their Super lemon Haze back in December and it ended up a favourite of mine and this has been no exceptions. Thanks Geeky for the recommendation, that's what it's all about in this forum.
I was now quite tired after an early start and a lot of walking so I checked-in and popped to the large Albert Heijn behind the palace for a few basics and went back for an afternoon nap
After waking my next quest was to grab some space cake to take back home for my girlfriend and me, after reading so many other travelogues on this site I thought it rude not to try the (in)famous Paradox version. I'd previously tried Basjoes tri-coloured space cake which I thought just OK as it was quite dry nd did not have a great deal of effect. Looking at the ACD map I saw it was close to the Ghanaian Black Star coffee shop which on my last trip actually bought two of my favourite purchases in Silver Haze (which had me literally floating back to the hotel) and Blueberry which had the most amazing fruity blueberry aroma which I've not had before or since sadly.
I wish I was able to spend more time in Paradox but it was there just for a buy-and-fly on the cake and the lady bud tender informed me they were closing at 8. Whilst I was in there Burning Spears 'Marcus Garvey' was playing and it immediately put me in a great mood and I really wanted to stay because I got a great vibe from this place. Incidentally, a couple of hours later I saw the same lady bud tender waiting on tables outside a (possibly Argentinian) restaurant a few doors down from Madam Tussauds in Dam Square. Anyhow I digress: the space cake is plain-looking and quite thin so considering it contains 1.2g of hash must taste very hashy indeed lol. I can't wait to try it with my girlfriend
I fancied staying central as my feet were starting to hurt and I was tiring quick, one place I've always wanted to stop by was 420 as I have read a lot about the vibe and decent gear. It was evening and lots of people floating around centrum as usual but this is a nice wooden oasis amongst the neon. I asked to see the blueberry and white widow as I was now too tired to head back to Club Media for their indicas which I was gutted about and they looked OK but not great. Again, I was too tired to wander the coffee shops so settled on the blueberry as the buds looked nice and dense but did not have much of a blueberry smell as I had got from the Black Star in a previous trip. I skinned up but had to keep lighting as the bud kept going out, I'm not sure if it was to do with the flush/cure or whether I had made a fairly slim joint. Anyway, the effects were spot on as I was feeling happy, content and stoned. It was also slightly trippy. I sat on a stool in the corner looking at the cat watching a nature programme (zebras were on at that moment) on the big screen TV like he/she was a kid glued to cartoons. It was very amusing.
The munchies had well and truly kicked in and I wanted fat and sugar ASAP. I wen to the bakery near Dam square and bought two glazed donuts and a custard pastry. This was still not enough so after scoffing in my hotel popped round the corner to burger bar and has a 200gm Irish beef with cheddar cheese. Yum, that did the job! My belly now appeased I settled down to watch some golf on EuroSport before dozing off.
This was just a quick 2-day trip for me as I travelled solo because my girlfriend could not make it this time but I have enjoyed yet another (I think this was trip 7) pit-stop in a wonderful City. Each time I go I go to other coffee shops that I hadn't been to previously and I love experiencing the unique character and charm that each brings as a result of size, location, menu, staff and clientelle. Club Media is still great and I hope to make it back to spend some quality time in Paradox next time, possibly in October when it is my birthday. I'm currently writing this report in the hotel lobby on my tablet PC using the hotels wi-fi so the smoke reports are hot off the press
It was a brief trip with not an extensive range smoked and apologies for no photos as I did not bother to bring a camera this time around but I hope that some of you find some useful tid-bits in this report especially with 420 fast approaching. Anyway I hope whoever goes has a great time!!
Thanks all

My girlfriend and me had the Paradox space cakes last night and they were amazing, very tasty and indeed nice and strong
One cake will see you have a great evening so well worth the €6 each
