Yo-Yo
Re: Yo-Yo
Ahhhh greenhouse, that makes sense. When I did a google translate of 'kas' it kept coming out as 'cash' ? I remember thinking when I smoked it that I was surprised how Sativa dom it was haha.
I am always tempted by Durban Poison (and the I always mean to buy the Santa Maria as well) but I am always put off looking, as it is synonymous with the cheap import, compressed bud like Thai, Swazi Red, Mexican Brick etc. Considering the fact it is Yo-yo I wouldn't be surprised if it was the real thing done properly ! Mite be popping back today (slim chance) so mite have a look at the Durban (and Santa Maria) if I do =)

Hey all, haven't been on for a while due to some shit I had to sort out, but I have still been getting high and have lots of strain pictures and comments to post
First up Yo-yo. So I had been wanting to try the Santa Maria and the Durban they sell here for awhile. I had bought Durban in the UK before, but it was always imported from South Africa and was heavily seeded, twiggy and compressed, and I heard Santa Maria was one of the old school strains from Holland.
Quick warning. I took the photos quite awhile ago and I may have got them the wrong way around......
First up, Durban

Not much smell till ground up but then had a nice aroma to it (can't go into too much detail due to bad stoner memory). Reasonable smoke for the price (0.8g 5 euro) mainly sativa but a bit of indica I think (unless it was the Santa Maria). If I hadn't arrived just as she was closing up I would have asked to see the 10 bags (I think generally they but the small buds in the 5 euro bags and the bigger buds in the 10 euro bags, even if a big bud would have cost 5 euros.....I hope that makes sense)
Next Santa Maria, 5 euro p/g

Quite similar to the Durban, but without the slight indica edge (unless I got them mixed up). I should point out that neither of these strains are going to stand up to the exotic, indoor set ups sold by most Coffeeshops in terms of strength, but I think there is a time to enjoy most bud (given a good grow, trim and cure) and I certainly enjoyed both these strains.
More recently I bought a 5 euro bag of Shiva (0.8g). Not a strain I new much about but once I saw the bag I realised I really had to try it out

It looked different from any bud I had smoked or seen while in Dam, with it's long wispy leaves, the closest comparison I can draw was to the California Mist I got from De Graal, but more bud like. Got it home, snapped a bud to get a sense of the smell and wow ! The most powerful citrus smell I have ever got from bud (to be fair I haven't tried any Super Lemon Haze, should be grabbing some at Voyagers in the next few days). Nice sativa high, quite a short duration, but yea, was quite happy with it !

Took my friends here as a first stop on Saturday to begin the little tour of De Pijp. Got 1.6 grams of the Haze (greenhouse grown) for 10 euros, it looked more appealing than the amnesia. I had warned my friends about it not being the strongest weed, but we skinned up a big joint between 4 and everyone was quite impressed with the strength. Taste was really nice, high was really good, social high. Everyone enjoyed the vibe in there, great choice to start the day.
Re: Yo-Yo
not bad at all that greenhouse Haze! much denser and whiter than I thought it would be. Dry, smooth.., has a light flavor. light buzz but pleasant, exactly what I was expecting. I have no idea what type of haze it is exactly, didnt ask..
durban looked like garbage in comparison, tiny tiny crumbs of leaf and twig, didn't buy--will try next time.

Re: Yo-Yo
Glad you liked the haze, thinking I mite get some and go and sit in De Graal for a day and try and do something productive on my laptop. Or at least that is what I shall try to do, and inevitably end up being very unproductive and maybe playing chess.
Re: Yo-Yo
iirc the greenhouse haze was 1.4g for 10. frosty stuff! Would be a suspiciously cheap buy at 1.6/10 ;]Padge247 wrote: Got 1.6 grams of the Haze (greenhouse grown) for 10 euros, it looked more appealing than the amnesia. .
Haze Kas/greenhouse haze:

Nice sativa-ish stuff (not a trippy head haze, but def more high than stoned), good light spicy flavor (and aroma but only when broken up), smooth
Re: Yo-Yo
Popped in with the idea of getting a 10 of haze and a 10 of bubblegum (someone asked for a comparison to the OG Kush and I wanted to be as fair as possible, having not smoked bubblegum for a while) but the menu had changed a little !
Firstly the haze was gone, it was replaced by another haze which had been put over the Shiva on the menu, and must say it looked very similar to the Shiva, and smelt pretty similar too. Maybe slightly shorter leaves, more trichs than the shiva I have had from here, but it is much more similar to the Shiva than the Haze they had (on the bag it says 'Haze B'). Probably falls somewhere in between the Shiva and the Haze for effects (thinking perhaps a cross ?), but I would pick the other haze instead I think (this one was 1.6g for 10 euros, reflecting the drop in quality).
The bubblegum was also gone ! I asked what she would recommend in stead of it, and she suggested the Purple Power (my first smoke when I moved here, seem to remember it was a damn powerful mainly indica strain that nearly knocked me over the edge on my first joint ! She also suggested the Amnesia Haze, which although I doubted would be much like the bubblegum, did look pretty good in the bag, and as I was planning on getting 4.5g of OG Kush from Ibiza, I guessed it wouldn't hurt to grab some more Sativa dom stuff. Nice amnesia smell when ground, covered in plenty of trichs, very orange looking bud, decent strength, probably stronger than the original haze (not quite as clear a high perhaps) and definitely stronger than the Haze B.

Re: Yo-Yo
So this was the first coffeeshop I went to on my return to Amsterdam (also my first when I first moved here), and the menu was largely unchanged. Grabbed a gram of the amnesia which is pretty consistent I have found (maybe this was slightly under par compared to previously, but more likely memory bias), and was a decent, clean smoke.

Re: Yo-Yo
really would like to try the organic strains from here. im staying up on Nieuwendijk with my girlfriend which is right at the other end of the map on here, by the doors coffeeshop. is this place worth the walk? is there any where else that does organic buds??

Homegrown fantasy is right by you and it only sells organic weed. But it's always worth a stroll down to de pijp - beautiful area, great coffeeshops, nice walk...
