Anyone been busted growing?

@ USBL. Yes growing should be fun and enjoyable, but you have to learn how to cross the road safely first . Just basic stuff, you is yer man for the operational expertise. My work background was transport, sea and land, so my health and safety brain comes out first thing .

oooh ive got a great (nearly) getting busted story.

being about 21, i was renting a room in a house. the house itslef was the top two floors of a large house, that an elderly lady rented out (she lived on the ground floor with a garden). this lady was genuinly about 90 years old, and couldnt leave her own house, so our area above her quickly became a bit of a party place and various people would be crashing over and there was a perpetual fog inside. there was no chance she could even get up the stairs that were at our front door to inspect so why not.

we had a good system of guerilla grows along the side of the main road that ran next to the village, which we did each summer. the seeds would be prepared and potted up and fed in the rented house untill ready for transfer to their outdoor location live out the summer and get huge. one summer we had a spectacular early heat wave, so i decided i would leave the potted plants in the back of the garden, hidden by the trees at the back, in sunlight, confident that our elderly landlady wouldnt be able to walk in her own garden and discover them. being pre sexing stage there was 18 of them.

i worked very close to home so would come home for lunch each day. one day i was heading back up my street, when i saw a pile of cables running out of my driveway into a van parked outside on the street.... anyone with plants knows the instinctive paranoia that kicks in when anything is out of place... when i turned into my driveway, my heart nearly came out of my mouth, as i was greeted by another silver van, slide door wide open with a man with headphones on, sitting infront of tv screens and a control desk, and a satellite dish on the roof of the van.... my mind flipped into crazy mode and i was imagining that everyone from the FBI to the DEA to the SAS had arrived to bust me... the bloke with headphones just nodded and smiled, which calmed me, so i followed the thick cables on the floor, round the side of the house, which to my horror led to the end of the garden where my plants were hidden.

i slinked up to the end of the garden, and was presented with a camera man, a bloke with a clip board and an ITV news presenter standing facing the camera... knee deep in all my plants. he was litterally in the middle of all the plants holding a microphone and presenting the evening news. i could tell he was about to start talking as he was standing still smiling, so i meekly just said "oh errrr sorry, do you want me to move those", out of the corner of his mouth he smirked and said "dont worry mate" whilst still facing front.... i didnt know what to do, so i just walked back into the house.... turned on the telly to ITV and watched a live broadcast from my back garden, about something newsworthy going on that could be seen from the end of the garden. on screen, the presenter was only visible form the chest upwards, so the whole country had no idea what was just out shot. they stayed all day doing the hourly updates, and i had to go back to work and was shitting it all day. they were stil there after work, and i didnt show my face untill they had left.

turns out something newsworthy happened which could be viewed from our streets back gardens so the film crew had gone to various houses asking for permission to film, and the old lady was in and gave the permission. as far as i'll ever know they never said a word to her or anyone as there were no repercussions.

Personally I don't grow, have never grown, will never grow unless it is 100% legal. Considered it, fantasized about it, planned it but never actually did it.

Finally if you do decide to grow. Don't tell anyone. The general rule is that for every 1 person you tell they will tell 4 people who will tell 4 people who will tell 4 people etc etc.

These days smell is easy to mask/filter and heat should not be too much of a problem as long as you are not growing a lot of plants.

I haven't checked this thread in a while but I am glad that people are responding.

I truly appreciate the responses, advice (ZBeebs), and stories (Chels).

I think that since what we love is illegal in most places, a discussion regarding this topic is necessary. Anything that we can learn from on another is good.

Legality will be a very local issue. In our state compassionate growers are allowed up to six plants (and 18 seedlings) per patient. Here's that policy taken to a lovely extreme...

Regardless of legality though, I always try to give weed a good name, especially with the neighbors, the ones who could potentially be a problem. I keep my house exterior kept up, and don't do anything to make parents nervous (they can instinctively get over-protective sometimes).

Hi everyone,
I will share my busted story with ya, A long time ago (1991) I was living alone in a flat and was growing a few plants on the window sill, it was a very basic grow just in plant pots, I would jus stick 'em in a dark place for 12hrs each day to trigger blooming.
Anyway I was 19 and suddenly decided to go to Ibiza for a 2wk holiday so went to a travel agent and found a real good deal but I would have to set off the next day (I had to have this deal £119 for 2 weeks) so I arranged for my mum to pop around every few days to water the plants (there were vegging at the time).
I went off on my hols expecting to come home to bigger plants BUT when I returned I found they had all gone I also had a kicked in door and a note telling me to hand myself in to the plod so in a pissed off mood I rang my mam to see what she knew. She told me that some scrotes had tried to rob my flat but had set my alarm off and left with nothing (all my belongings was safe cos I had stored them at hers before going) BUT after the alarm had been going off a neighbour had called the cops and they had gone inside and found the weed so it was not a propper bust but still the same result.

I would love to grow. I am not currently in a situation where it is possible for me to grow right now but will be in 2-3 years.

Of course my biggest concern is getting caught. I am really really scared about getting caught!

Anyone here ever been caught growing and willing to share the experience?

There is new (ish) legislation that says something along the lines of anyone caught with 9 plants or less who isn't in a position of mutual respect (a teacher for example) and who shows remorse for their actions is to receive a fine or low level community order.. I'll try and find it for you. (I'll first read the rest of the thread in case somone posted it already) It was an official home office document not some report in the sun or whatever. It was kept out of the papers as far as I'm aware

YES!i still think about it everyday,i cared for my plants like little kids and to see the cops throwing my weed into the back of a van still sickens me..the basterds i detest the police like a sickness!
i wouldnt recommend growing in a private housing estate,people dont miss a trick.
iv no weed at the moment aswel things are rough.

my buddy was busted 2 weeks ago.....6 plants indoors,11 outdoors.........plus left over buds from previous year.....thats the bad news..........good news.... HE ONLY GOT A CAUTION..............2nd time busted in last 10 years,but in his favour is the guy is nearly pension age and virtually disabled so mebbe the cops felt sorry for him...but happy days that they were so easy going on him.......so maybe there is a ray of hope for the rest of us......good luck,good growing folks

Coppers should be embarrassed for making this bust... pension aged, personal grower... feeeck.... hope the ol' timer gets along ok... we'll all be that age one day and don't need harrassment from the po-lice.
