3rd Time Lucky!

Hey everyone! Booked my 3rd journey to this wonderful city from the 26th-28th May (Sat-Mon) and figured it's about time I signed up on here and started posting some reviews! I'm considering doing a travelogue and wondering if anyone has any tips or advice on how to do a decent write-up while things get a little bit hazy over there?

Peace!

Welcome to the forum.

You have been posted on the May Whos In Town page.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.
Or post one of your own. All I need is a date, time, and coffeeshop to post it.

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/membe ... le&u=78001

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.

For best results on a trip report. take notes.

Welcome, have a great time :)

Wish I could help much here, so if anyone has good ideas also I'd love to know also. Built my reports up slowly over time, and apart from the actual place/variety I've sometimes managed to write a few lines when I've found that I have a few minutes to spare - but then find I'm so stoned just stare at the screen, write a bit, re-read then delete it all  :( :D Next time intent to try and add some pics, but need to get something better than my phone.

The rest of mine has been from memory after a few days, so not exactly the best way

I did bring a little notebook the last time, but after figuring out that after a couple of days I hadn't written a thing in it I didn't even bother bringing it out with me as it just ended up being something else to carry.

One handy tip for keeping a note of the strains/location - grab a few roach/filters and write on them rather than on the baggie - as the amount of times that's rubbed off, or I've just bluntedly chucked the bag away before writing it down somewhere else.

Oh, just remembered, I wrote a little "What seems to happen with travelogues..." here :)

Thanks a lot FlyByNite! Was hoping you'd put me up on "Who's in town?" :D

Found your menu's website really useful the last time i made it to amsterdam!

At the moment im equipped with a notepad and a couple of pens, but im hoping to get hold of a decent camera for bud shots before i go! Worst comes to worst i'll be taking them on my Ipod! (Not that im much of a photographer anyway!)

Guess i just need to try and stay focused (if thats even possible over there!)

I'm planning on taking a backpack around with some essentials, (like a true tourist!) so i should be able to keep the notepad in there and whip it out whenever i need to jot down details or i feel like writing something! I've got a funny feeling some of these notes are going to be pretty damn difficult to decipher when i get home though! :)

Failing that i'll just go with your roach idea! Would be good for pictures too!

Peace!

Take a photo of the menu, this always helps me to remember what I have had in which coffeeshop.

On the menu photos, Always ask first. Better to be told no than thrown out.

***********************************************

The etiquette of taking pictures in coffeeshops.
Especially menus.

*************** ALWAYS ASK FIRST **************

Most shops will let you take pix to your hearts content, a few don't
even care about videos.

ALWAYS ask first. It's always at the option of the bud tender, so if
one won't let you, go back on another shift and that one might let you.
Be persistant.

Generally, try to keep people out of the background. Some folks don't
want it known that they frequent Amsterdam coffeeshops, I do and I'm
proud but I'm not everybody. Menu pix are short range and don't have
much if any background.

Almost as an afterthought but of primary importance.

Remember, really stoned people don't like flashes of bright light
and most of the folks there are pretty stoned.

Don't use your flash if at all possible. Most digital cameras
will work in pretty low light and software can lighten it up later.

Often the bud tender will move a menu to better light or let you
take it to better light, say to a window with light streaming in.

And email them to CoffeeshopMenus@gmail.com . Be sure to mention
how you want it credited. I will post them and credit you or whomever
you designate.

Enjoy

I agree, it is always best to ask first.
