15% THC rule becomes law.

Post by Tranquilised »

I was just having a FB chat with Nol when he suddenly said "oops, the 15 % THC thing just became Law....."

Sorry I can't elaborate but this has truly come form the horse's mouth, so to speak!

If anyone on the ground in NL can expand, please do so.

There's thousands of different batches going round, they wouldn't be able to test them all, there's simply not the man power. Plus, different batches of the same strain have different thc contents, so how can they eradicate it? They can't expect growers to just burn their crops just because it's over 15% thc! What does this mean for high potency hash??

This makes the situation for cs owners even worse. They will have to fear closure 24/7 because its not possible for cs owners to test every single batch. When your shop gets raided then there is a good chance that you gonna have to close it because some of the batches... This is insanity. If the dutch system fails then good luck to any other country that tries to step in Hollands footsteps...

So does it take effect immediately?

Should I be booking a flight for tomorrow to pick up all the half-price isolator they will be giving away?

I was at a festival in the UK when the brief legal loophole of "legal" magic mushroom sales was closed and the stall holders were giving them away, it was like the '60's! (I imagine?)

This is far more serious for the coffee shops than the Wietpas. Quite simply few will be interested in visiting a coffee shop for crap weed. This really is the end of the great Amsterdam we once knew.

Praying they don't introduce it before July or I lose all the money I've already paid for my houseboat trip.

Bye Amsterdam - it's been great whilst it lasted but you won't be seeing me again.

I'm confused. The Parliamentary Information attached to the article refers to Qat (Khat), not GHB or High THC marijuana.

Whatever the change it is almost immediate going into effect the day after its publishing in the Gazette.

I thought the THC thing happened at the start of 2012 and was just being ignored? If batches start getting THC checks and the law is enforced properly and quickly, then we might be in trouble! Surely there will be a grace period for the coffeeshops to sell off all their high grade gear first though? I'm not sure if this is legit or just scaremongering, but it's pretty negative either way! :? :(

The funniest part is that cannabis has never been legal in Holland, it's just tolerated, so why do we think that it's going to make a difference with laws in place? The police will continue to turn a blind eye as they currently do! There is no change in the law, only the application of it!

Should we be stocking up on quality strains?

I guess it all depends on how seriously the new rule is taken! My only worry is that if they are treating the high THC bud/hash as a hard drug, there's going to be a lot of confusion as to whats over 15% and whats not as far as the authorities are concerned! The dutch tend to be extra strict on cocaine, heroin etc. Will that be the same for Ice-o-later and strong weed now? It's just another bonus for street dealers too! "I've got the good shit, follow me into this lane so i can stab you!"

On the other hand, the growers and importers are hardly law abiding citizens just now anyway, and their masses of product cant just disappear into thin air by tomorrow!

Just saw this - it's SOMEWHAT related, I believe. Basically, it demonstrates the political underpinnings of these sorts of regulations, even when the hard facts suggest otherwise...
