I'd like to add an Asian option to the list of Amsterdam alternatives.
Cambodia - Phnom Penh - I've been there and bought weed from a couple of restaurants on the riverfront and also from a nearby bar where anyone can smoke a joint bought on the premises with no problems at all. It is $1 for a pure joint in the bar and $20 for a decent sized bag in the restaurants.
My tip - never accept what they come out with first time as mostly it will be crap they are trying to get rid. The smell should tell you a lot about whether it is any good. Trust me there is a lot of crap out there. Especially when the town is dry(ish). Caveat Emptor.
The girls behind the bar will roll you joints from your own stash or you can buy prerolled from behind the bar.
This is not uncommon in Cambodia. They even had a coffeeshop type place in Sanoukaville (beach resort) which only got closed down when they started openly advertising and selling heroin in the middle of the town!
Also you can buy from any tuk tuk driver. They are everywhere. Obviously being Asia a bit of haggling is expected. Just make sure you do it with a smile on your face and everything will be fine.
Finally remember the best time of year to visit is Nov-Jan. It gets very very hot even during the 'cool' season. During rainy season it is not much fun.
Bring a hat!

First of all:
Your question was NOT related to Amsterdam: was related to find "another Amsterdam". It is the logic: don't be mad with be bro.
-Sorry if defenending Amsterdam on an Amsterdam forum is a "pointless opinion".
-Wikipedia one contains lot of uncorrect information. F.E: Many bullshit about Italy, and I know because I live there.
-Decriminalized Cannabis or somewhat legal IS NOT LEGAL and governments can start to act less relaxed anytime.
-I can't understand who could be interested in spending 700$ in a plane flight to Peru, smoke same weed he can smoke at his home and maybe bullied by some cops looking for a bribe. Maybe a mad person, someone smoking too much.
So I'll repeat you my point, just in case someone can't read between the lines: fucking fight for your rights, never lay your head down. Do not think how to live without the things you like but fight to keep them.
And now, kids, you can start talking back about your drug trips and about me being a crazy bitch.
Theres always 1,ur 2 much into ur politics i tink.il love reading this forum but i always notice that there is always someone who has to disagree with everyone else like yourself.iv been to amsterdam alot of times so its time for a change wheather they bring this new law in or not,i dont want to hear your shit about goverments or fucking rights,if i wanted that id turn on the fucking news.if i was goin peru, the weed would be just a bonus and i would definatly pay 700 if i had it to go to a place like that...
So basically if you have nothing positive or creative to say then say nothing at all

LMAO I really don't think that the independant state of Amsterdam needs support from the italians, I think that they are perfectly capable of dealing with this themselves. This right wing political bullshit it not going to stop me visiting the Netherlands and enjoying it.

Christiania should not be forgotten. Personally I haven't been there for quite a while but I do remember the relaxed atmosphere and there surely is good varietys of cannabis to be bought there. Great place!

We went there last month for the first time having read about it for years and were a bit disappointed.
We weren't naive enough to be expecting the Disneyland of Dope that 'Dam has become but it was mostly fairly average blond hash, with only about 20% of the stalls selling weed of any quality.
We got some OK Casey Jones and something else- white Widow I think- plus a ready-rolled hash spliff as we were only there two days and wouldn't have got through a block. They were alright but overpriced; the pre-rolled was about €12 and although loaded, not that strong.
There was a feeling the whole time we were there that we were unwelcome outsiders too. There are not that many places to toke inside and it was bloody freezing so we spent most of our first day in the Woodstock Cafe which is basically the closest thing to the village pub. Being English we headed straight there of course but there were only a couple of free seats and we constantly felt like we were sitting in someone else's seat as various people came and stood over us to talk to the guy sat opposite like he was the bloody Godfather or something (obviously we asked if seat was free first).
I understand that it is a very close-knit community but if you are going to attract tourists which they clearly want to do, be good enough to acknowledge that we spent more on beer than most of your clientele put together and kindly do more than grunt and scowl at me every time I go to the bar! We tried a little Danish please thank you etc and attempted to engage a couple of locals in conversation to no avail.
It is a shame as I have often wondered if they had created the "perfect alternative society" but the overall impression I got was it was like the Green Fields at Glastonbury Festival with more dogs. And drunks-there is a Tibetan refugee population there and both days we were in the pub the same Tibetan lady was so three sheets to the wind-dancing on the tables and bumping into all and sundry-we thought she must have just arrived from terrible hardships at home to be so eager to be the town drunk!

Well, that seems like a alternative....but maybe also residents only...on the other hand, if sale is legal, then to everybody. Time to buy a house there.

I am bumping this thread because someone decided to be a douchebag and Hijack the thread turning it into a big verbal battle.
Prague.
Marijuana is decriminalized in Czech Republic, and it's fairly easy to get.
(talk to the guys playing pinball at Chapeau La Rouge)
Some of the best smoke I've had strangely enough.
Jamaica.
NOT LEGAL IN ANY WAY, However, it's very easy to get, and as long as you're not a stupid idiot about it you'll get away with it anywhere.
USA:
Washington State,Oregon,California
WEST COAST IS THE BEST COAST- Still illegal, but it's a slap on the wrist. And it's easy to get.
British Columbia Canada -
PRO:Vancouver has some of the best smoke in the world, in fact, I would argue it's better than anywhere. Super easy to get, it's sold all over the place. The Amsterdam Cafe' is a great place to start your search. Those Canadians have fuckin' PWNED the science of making marijuana. It's the best bud ever. PERIOD.
Australia -
Illegal still, however very easy to get, and nobody gives a shit.
CON:Shitty weed.
Mexico -
Decriminalized up to 5grams, good bud, cheap prices, easy as shit to get.
CON: You might get shot.
Barcelona-
Super easy to score, big time pot scene, excellent weed & Hash, usually from Amsterdam or Morocco.
Central America - Easy to score, illegal, but all good. Belize is looking at decriminalizing.
For all the super aggressive jerks that freaked out at your question, WTF? Smoke a J and chill the fuck out. There's plenty of places to enjoy good herb. This is just a very basic list.
