Day trip to the 'Dam.

Been a good few years since I was in the Dam and unfortunately due to my job and the frequent golden stream tests I am unable to indulge anymore

. However, my son does enjoy a doobie or two of an evening so I would like to bring him some goodies back. Not a lot maybe 10g of different strains. I aint bothered about the bringing back but am a bit fussed about the shops that would suit a mid-fifties chap to buy and just sit with a coffee for a bit and not feel like a spare prick. I am quite familiar with the geography of that fine city so travelling within is not a problem.
Many thanks in anticipation of your advice.

Any of the well thought of shops don't seem to be judgemental or exclusive to any specific demographic of person.
I don't think you will look out of sorts at all.
My mum and sister went last year, both in their 50s and non smokers and went to Baba each morning and evening for a coffee and loved it.

Sailor - I'm in that 'more mature' age group you refer to! Haven't felt uncomfortable in any coffee shop.
But if you're just going to have coffee are you looking for a comfortable setting or where you can get the best weed. The two may not always go hand in hand!
Personally I love the weed at Voyagers and Grey Area and consider them to be the best in town (that I've so far found) but neither are the most comfortable to sit in. The friendliness of the staff more than make up for it though.
I love to sit and chill in Amnesia looking out the window to the canal, or on the bench outside if it's warm enough. Also the Grasshopper, just off Damrak, is coffee shop (basement), bar and restaurant so something like that might be comfortable for you. Though it's very touristy.
But why not just forget your age - it's only a number after all. I find 99% of the people I meet in Dam are very friendly no matter what your age.
Enjoy, but please exercise caution bringing something back.

Both would be excellent but the weed is a bit more important. I have seen the weed he is getting at home and even to my old eyes it looks and smells like shit but seems to do the business. Probably Vietnamese home grown. The ideal shop would have a good selection of Sativa, a hybrid and a pure Indica (weed or hash) so he can enjoy what I had. Roll on early retirement.

Yo-Yo in de Pijp is good. The woman who owns it (I assume) is an old hippie type in that demographic herself. Good menu, comfortable seating, nothing to fault that I could see.
Amsterdam does make you feel older than any other city in my experience, so you just have to accept it. Rusland and Siberiƫ are good, both for atmosphere and choice of smokables. I've seen people of all ages in there. But more to the point, they don't get packed out, so you aren't the only one sitting quietly amongst hordes of youthful partygoers, which is where the spare prick feeling is likely to set in.

Thank you all. Got a manic few hours sorted out with a chill in between.

What was meant to be a relaxing day turned into a cash and dash as the railway system was well buggered up. Full marks however to the charming lady budtender at Voyagers who recommended Don Tangelo and the Super Lemon Haze, tight well trimmed buds which safely arrived back with me today. Thanks for the advice.
