Nice tight report Chelsea. bedankt meneer. De Wild's a fav of mine too. Nearby is Cafe Belgique, who'll tolerate light cannabis activity, and pours 't Ij's Vlo. From here...

"Despite its location in tourist central, Belgique draws in a good share of locals; suits from the Beurs, shoppers from Nieuwedijk, artists from their attics. The laid-back vibe is helped by some of the best background music you'll hear in Amsterdam."

Nice report, quite liked the pub guide which you tend not to hear about too much on this forum so thanks!

worst european hostel ive stayed in... just possibly. thank god i was in a good mood, and just laughed off the terrible place.
the receptionist was the most stressed out and angry woman ive ever encountered in a hotel. she tutted when i arrived to check in, and was openly annoyed at having to book in 'another' customer. good start. the later when i asked about a wifi key, she shuddered as if i had offended her again, and openly chastised a waiting customer saying "cant you just get it yourself, GOD!". no idea what he was after but i imagine it was perfectly reasonable.
had a couple more run ins with her,
KEEP ER LIT

hey,Mike93 wrote:Great report mate could you tell me how you got to the coach park for the megabus coach.
thanks
if its day time, the tram 26 goes to and from central station and zeeburg p&r. as i said the tram stop is the nearest thing to where you get out of the coach, so you cant miss it. journey is only 10 mins.
if its really early (like it was for me) or really late and there's no trams, then the night bus 359 runs between central station and zeeburg. also drops you only a few meters from the p&r/coach stop. a bit of a winding route compared to the tram so it was about 20 mins
at worst, theres always taxis waiting at central station who can take you out to the p&r. no idea of the fare. would only take ten minutes i imagine.

Great report thanks, you really managed to fit a lot into such a short time!
Re: 2 June Report
I got a £9 one-way deal (Eurolines, not Megabus, but not much different) last time, and as I wasn't returning from A'dam, any other way just wasn't worth it.
Also, there are, ahem, certain advantages if you're returning by coach to the UK.
I'm planning to come over at some point in the summer, and there aren't any cheap fares left, so it'll have to be via Eurostar or Hoek van Holland. When the fares are high, the difference isn't worth the sacrifice in comfort. (Yes, I know that'll cost as much as a flight, but there are, ahem, certain disadvantages to returning by air.)
