Long time no smoke... (question)
Long time no smoke... (question)
Hi,
I am off to Amsterdam on Saturday. Obviously I plan to sample the local greenery, but I've not smoked any weed for best part of 10 years.
Could someone here recommend something that's quite chilled and relaxing but not too spinny, suitable for someone who's not smoked in a decade (a noob for all intents and purposes)?
We're going to be looking at somewhere like Voyagers to start with, so something from their menu would be great.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Long time no smoke... (question)
Say exactly that to the Bud Tender, at a reputable coffeeshop like Grey Area or Voyagers.
They will give you the best advice.
Have a good one.

Thanks, I'll do that.
Ever so slightly off topic... What's the law on smoking cigarettes out and about in Amsterdam? Don't feel like blowing my holiday money on fines and whatnot

You can smoke cigarettes on the street.monkeydoo wrote:Thanks, I'll do that.

There are places that you can smoke cigarettes and places that you can't, all that will become clear.
The smoking ban is law, but from what I have seen it hasn't been enforced.

Buy a coke to go with your first joint, might just be me but I find it helps if I get a whitey
Bit like the last time I was in Voyagers lol

I absoloutly recommend the chocolate kush, from popeyes coffeshop for you. €10 a gramme.
Had it on saturday so i can say that its currently a very nicely dried/cured batch.
Its a kush so its indica based, which is nice and 'chilled'.
Also the strength was very middle of the road and there was no strong Punch. Big smokers might not think those are particularly good qualities, but for first timers/occasional smokers, Its ideal because you can moderate your high easier. the quick hit of strong weed is often what spins people out, so with the chocolate kush Less chance of overdoing it immediatly.
heres a picture of it from last saturday:

Re: Long time no smoke... (question)
I used to smoke an ounce a week, then gave up for a few months. When I had my first spliff after giving up, I managed about half before having the heaviest whitey I can (or in this case, barely) remember. I thought I was dying! And it went on for well over an hour. I was unable to move. It was so bad I threw the remainder of the quarter I'd bought away
But a few weeks later I tried again, and although I again had another whitey and felt quite ill, I persevered.
What I found works for me is have a few pulls on the spliff, then put it down have a sugary drink and see how you feel. If OK then have another couple of pulls, and so on. Just in case of problems I make sure I know where the toilet is! I also used to find it helped to smoke a few days before going to Amsterdam to kind of prepare myself. (Though don't need to now as my smoking has increased again)
In all honesty I think you could have a whitey after not smoking for all that time. But don't fret, you're not dying - honest! As someone else said let them know in Voyagers and they can both recommend something for you and keep an eye out. There's a lovely lady working there sometimes (sounds Spanish or Italian maybe) and I'm sure she'd be happy to help.

Re: Long time no smoke... (question)
I think the main thing is how much weed you put in a spliff. No matter how strong the weed you have just start off with a tiny amount and see how you feel. Also don't be tempted to hit pipes and bongs until you have an idea of your tolerance as its very difficult to regulate how much your smoking when your having a spliffs worth in one bong hit. I had a whole year off weed about five years ago and I was shiting it the first time I sparked up so I rolled a tiny spliff and had two tokes, put it out and the waited a while for the effects to kick in. I now smoke everyday but get ten j's out of a gram of top ganja where as some of my mates will be lucky to get three, I could smoke to their level but it would ruin my tolerance levels and cost me a small fortune.

Re: Long time no smoke... (question)
On my last trip (april 2011) it was a long time since I last smoked (will be the same this trip to lol). I took my first joint back in the hotel bar and half way through fealt the starts of a whiety coming on, feeling hot & sweaty with the black sports in front of my eyes etc. The whiety was saved by having a sugary drink (cola) and a bar of chocolate to hand to munch on.
After that first near close call I was pretty much fine for the rest of the trip (if somewhat wrecked for 4 days solid lol), I just made sure I was taking more sugar based drinks than beer and always kept a bar of chocolate on me in case of feeling a little giddy.
