question about auto seedlings

Post by CHELSEA_SMOKERS_SOCIETY »

with autos, should you put the popped seed into a small pot and pot up when necessary, or should the popped seed go straight into the full size pot (im thinking 3 litres)

Once they pop put them straight into your big pot, but with 3l you're gonna have super small plants... With 17l my biggest auto gave me 70g... Do the maths

cheers,

my idea of 3 litre pots is based on specific instructions written on the packet of the seeds ive got. they are 'Devon Maid Autos', by a guy called pluto pete. he's got some nice looking grows online using 2 litre soda bottles as pots, so i thought i'd try 3 litre pot to be safe.

however, your suggestion of 17 litre pot is waaay bigger than i thought i needed, but ive been reading online today and i see 11 to 17 litres is quite common for autos, so i think i may increase the pot size to a 10 or 11 litre pot.

Its depth of container thats needed, cos those Auto roots just seem to go downwards, thats why a lot of growers are using empty pop bottles, they'd save a lot of space .I've always used 11 ltr pots myself.mainly for stabilisation in the wind.

Yeah I use 17l pots because I have a Wilma system and I didn't bother to buy others pots just to grow autos, but the pots were full of roots. Got an average of 60g/plant with 4 plants and a 400w hps

Oh and I think the bigger the pot the longer they veg before flowering, I think it's because they begin to flower when the roots hit the bottom of the pot

Id recommend potting up to final 6.5l pots after 7 - 10 days. Be careful with nutes too some autos can be really sensitive

I've grown out a bunch of autos, and agree with what's being said... put the seedling directly into the largest pot you can use.
Why drink and drive when you can smoke and fly?
