Starting over

Post by AzLaker »

I put a couple of pictures over on Stuart's site about "DWC growing" and thought I would run a grow cycle over here and share my experiences with DWC and see what you think....good or bad?
I'll repost those pics here again and move foward from there. Will occasionally post pics and give updates on all five plants. Here we go...............
Three of the plants are Sweet Tooth #3 and the other is Sour Diesel, previously cloned and have been in buckets for two weeks. The Silver Bubble, started from seed in a "Rapid Rooters" cube, then tranplanted into the DWC a week ago with a weak solution of GH 3 part nutes.....so far so good.

Thanks for the kind words EasilySuede
Happy 4th to everyone.
I thought I would give you a little more insight on my DWC set-up and how I work it. My Mom tent is 3' x 3' x 7'.... I use a 400 watt MH, with a Eye Hortilux bulb. A 6" Vortex fan takes care of the heat in this tent and my 4' x 4' x 7' flower tent. My NEW A/C and two 12" fans move the cool air to both tents....the tents always stay a cool 78 degrees.....not to bad when it's 110 degrees outside. :x In one, you see a picture of my air pump, this is a "Luft" piston driven air pump, around $70 U.S. dollars, but worth every penny. I use to run aquarium pumps and I would have 4 or 5 running between two tents. Now I have ONE pump for each tent and can run a maxium of 6 air lines, (with 5" air stones) per tent, with a ton more Bubbles. :D Mom's are doing great....will move 2 of the Sweet Tooth #3 in about a week and a half, they'll be a month old and start flowering them.
Here's a few pictures of my Mom tent, air pump and plants.

dc, what's up!! Still in the Dam??

The extra increase in the electricity is really no big deal. Keeping the A/C at 78 degrees helps. Living in the desert and our heat, lots of people keep their homes cooler them mine without growing weed so it's no big deal to the electric company as far as the increase. As far as the small increase in our electric bill.....I figure we save that many times over by NOT having to BUY weed.

As far as the smell, that's eliminated by a 6" x 10" x 14" activated carbon filter along with a 6" Vortex exhaust fan. Works really well. :)

ah... figured the electricity bill would be a lot more... and the smell would cause neighbors to wonder wtf. thats all you need right?

btw.. try to get some kosher kush seeds.... holy fuck... had it in the dam and it was LETHAL.

nah... honestly dude... i was there alone...friends came for a week... then left... I do have a few friends living in the dam... but i was getting bored.

think i hit the well too many times.... it was my 18th or so trip there.

and going alone isn't the most fun.

so... i left a couple of weeks early.

I'd go back but only with a really good group of ppl.

Off topic a bit, but just wanted to say I'd LOVE to spend a few weeks in Amsterdam on my own... Being able to do everything at my own pace, without having to worry if the people I'm with are bored/hungry/tired etc, and not having to do things I'd rather not would be fuckin' awesome.

Nice looking setup up there... I'm growing in soil and hand-watering, this looks like it might be a lot less work to maintain once it's set up? How much time do you have to put into it on a daily basis?
Why drink and drive when you can smoke and fly?

The first couple of weeks after I transplant the clones into DWC, I don't do anything, literally, just watch them everyday and make sure their happy. They don't use any water the first couple of weeks, they just seem to get use to their new enviroment, and grow a little. After that second change of nutes, they seem to take off, so I'm more active in the room. But to be honest with you, time wise....hard to say, if I'm home, I go in there 4 or 5 times a day just to check on them and dick around   .....there's always something to do in there, right???  Normally 45 minutes to an hour, but if I'm in there just to refill my buckets with H2o....5 minutes....tops.
Now when I change my nutes every 2 weeks, it takes me a good hour or so do change out 4 or 5 buckets. Fresh nutes into extra clean buckets I have on hand....then dump out old nutes and clean those buckets with soap and water, so their nice and clean and ready for the next change out.
I hope that answers your question.

I'm almost two weeks into a summer flower, and using a nighttime "day" for the girls to beat the heat; and there's fewer folks about in the 'hood then to smell anything. Low odor, quick flowering strains help, like C99bx1, F13, orient express, panama dc- the ones I've got blossoming at the mo'

My weekly update,  the Sweet Tooth #3 and the Sour Diesel are looking real nice and starting to fill out. I'm moving two S.T.#3 and the Sour Diesel over to the flowering tent tomorrow and will flip these three. Should have plenty of room for all three in that 4x4 tent, plus the 600 watts will keep them happy. Will keep one S.T. #3 and the Silver Bubble for Mom's and add a Kosher Kush in about a week to add to the mix.
Here's some more pics a week later. The picture of the roots is from the same plant (Sour Diesel) a week later. They really love all that air.  And how do you like the growth from the Silver Bubble?? That little frecker has taken off. :D Anyway, here's the pics:

A little update and more pictures.  Trimmed off all the lower branches on the newly tranfered flowers and the Sweet Tooth #3 mom and gave fresh nutes to flowers (bloom) and mom (grow). Also first day of 12/12 for S.T.#3 and the Sour Diesel, everyone looks happy.

2 -S.T.#3 and 1 S.D. just moved into the flower tent. Tied up most branches on the S.Diesel now, so I don't have to deal with them later, when they start filling out.
