It just keeps pulling me back in...

Post by Fuzzy Dunlop »

So im heading back to the dam! yay me! and this time for a whole week! last yrs solo trip was so good it had to be done again, work is pissing me off and i need a break. Thought 4 days is not enough just gonna go for the whole week. Will def try to make it to these infamous toke and talks this time as i did fuck all last time, was like a rabbit caught in headlights last year, was all so new after being away for so long. This time i will be more prepared and at the very least have a bloody map with me, god them streets are mazy when your stoned :)

Booked a place through airbnb, first time using it so hopefully works out ok. Didnt realise how far out the centre it was though, i'll be in the joordan area, its near 't Keteltje and Bronx coffeeshops. Hoping others have stayed around here before? would love any info or just some reassurance!

i have a few questions if anyone doesnt mind answering...please? Had a little search around but couldnt really find the answers i needed.

All the time ive been to the dam ive never used the trams, just want to know can i buy a day pass kind of thing of even a week pass? the directions i got ive been told to get the tram as its easier and quicker and i guess i'll be using them a bit as the apartment is a bit further out. Or is it better to just pay cash, anyone know how much they are?

secondly, from reading through the awesome trip reports ive noticed a few people mention things about ID's. whats that all about? will i need to keep my passport on me? or become a member or something? Anything i need to worry about? Sorry but i cant remember which coffeeshops these were about.

and finally anyone know where my nearest post office type place would be as i may need to ahem, cough, cough, send a dutch souvenir back home?

Oh and also a massive thanks to all you people who bother writing trip reports, love reading them and they are the sole reason im getting off my arse and getting back to the dam again. And seeing as its my first aniversary of my return to the dam i will post up my unfinished trip report from last year! I did promise i would do one the last time i was on here but like a typical stoned git i got sidetracked and lazy and just didnt finish it or bother posting it up here.

Oh nearly forgot, for flyby - dates are 16th July - 23 July

thank you and i appreciate any help and advice!

For tram tickets go to the VVV, its the big white building right outside Centraal Station, can get a pass for the whole week.

If you apartment is near Bronx it isnt as far out as you think maybe a 20 minute walk from Centraal Station. Theres no Weed Pass in Amsterdam so dont worry but youll need to carry your passport around with you as you will be asked for ID in some if not all coffeeshops.

Not too sure on Post Offices as ive never sent any home before but im sure someone will chime in regarding that.

Have a great time in the Dam!

You can buy tram passes for a day, two days, etc, up to seven days (168 hours). You can also buy something called an "Anonymous OV Chipkaart" that is refillable and can be used on the trams. As Jolly mentioned you can buy these at the VVV building on the Stationplein. Details on pricing for the day passes are here: http://en.gvb.nl/ovinmamsterdam/Pages/bestdeal.aspx

Looks like our visits will overlap (I'm in town 8 - 21 July), perhaps we'll meet up at a TnT at some point....

You have been posted on the July Whos In Town page.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.
Or post one of your own. All I need is a date, time, and coffeeshop to post it.

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/membe ... le&u=65600

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.

When you arrive at central head out and go left until you see a white house on the right thats where you get your OV chipkaart. On my last trips I have found out that I should go with the prepaid one since Ive used the card only 1-2 times a day max and payed for the whole six days what a waste of money
Use em on weed instead
