Day 7: Saturday 21st April 2012
Our last day and the date of the proposed "Cannalympics" in Haarlem.
During the previous evening in the Nes there had been much discussion of the Cannalympics.
At least one person who'd been over to Haarlem recently said that the shops there had never heard of the idea but most of our crew were confident that the event would happen and many planned an early start.
Those of us not expecting to be on an early train were discussing how and where to catch up with the rest of Team ACD.
I was keen to meet in Birdy because I've never been there and have heard good things about it.
This wasn't practical, though, because the main group intended to go there at the beginning of their tour.
Trad suggested we meet at Utopia in Amsterdam, celebrate their third place in the Hestia and make our way to Haarlem from there.
So, we strolled into Utopia and found that we were expected but nobody else turned up.
Never mind, we had a little session on our own and, eventually, went off shopping.
I can't remember what this was but my camera seemed to do something useful with it.
I can remember where it finished up though

(see below)
Later that evening we were in the Nes as usual.
I think we were in there for all seven nights of our trip
I had proposed a last night smoke up there on this particular night some time before and lots of people turned up.
It turns out that the Cannalympics not only took place but was very successful.
Many of our crew had taken part and the survivors were in the Nes clutching their medals.
There has also been a train crash earlier that evening between Haarlem and Amsterdam.
None of our people were on the trains that collided but they had been caught up in the resulting disruption.
There have been many competitions where pundits give awards to coffeeshops, not least our Hestia Cup of course, but this is the first event I've heard of where the shops give medals to the punters.
Nice idea.
I was soon hassling the guys behind the bar to get the Volcano going.
I fancied the mega-bag that we'd experienced earlier in the week but the staff weren’t keen.
After a bit of nagging they agreed but only if I stuffed sufficient quantities into the filling chamber.
Suits me, I thought, I was leaving the next day so this was a chance to use up all of the buds in my pocket.
I broke up a selection of Amsterdam's finest and packed it into the pot.
This was enough to convince the bar people to snap on the mega-bag.
As it filled, the bag towered up to the ceiling and the vapour was so thick it looked like milk!
It took two of us, one on each end, to walk it through the crowd to the gang waiting outside.
As we drained the delicious vapour, the bag was rolled up, forcing it into our lungs.
And so 420-2012 reached its finale, at least for us.
The following day we flew home.
It was a fantastic week.
I met loads of people and consumed tons of first class marijuana with them.
We visited many coffeeshops and walked miles.
Thank you very much to everyone who came along.
A special mention must go to Trad for his cups, medals and plaques and Gapie for leading the crawls and keeping everyone together (cat herding).
