why people put tabacco in bongs

Years ago, in college, I had an idiot roommate who smoked pure tobacco through my new ceramic bong before I had a chance to christen it properly. The taste lingered and tasted horrible when I did use it, and made him buy me a new bong. When in Amsterdam, and still smoking tobacco, I rolled quite a few 'mixers.' I have encountered a few people stateside who mix their combustibles, so I ask before sharing joints of unknown origins.

why dont have separate bongs plastic with tabac and glass bongs pipes to expensief to put tabacco in it WTF tabacco in joints not in a bong
i get so angry of it i see in coffeeshops they got nice expensief bongs with perculators and then people but tabacco in it and weed why not pure wtf smoke plastic if u wanna put tabacco in it

I agree, tobacco in bongs is fucking gross. Quite a few people do it in Australia too. I hear the usual excuses, like that the weed is too expensive to smoke pure, which doesn't make any logical sense. You need X amount of weed to get high, it makes no difference whether you spread it out over 2 bowls by mixing with tobacco, or smoking it pure in 1 bowl. If the weed is too expensive for you, just smoke less of it... Mixing it with tobacco doesn't magically extend the THC content, or make it absorb better. Plus, the tobacco also costs money doesn't it? (getting more and more expensive from what I hear)

The other excuse about helping the weed burn better makes slightly more sense, but not much. If the weed is too wet, dry it out. If you only have access to hash, obviously you can't roll a joint with that (except possibly Gapie!!!) But we all know its very easy to smoke pure hash in a pipe, bong, or countless other methods. There are also plenty of herbal smoking mixes around these days, for those who like smoking joints. Nobody is forcing you to use tobacco. I've even used herbal smoking mixes a few times in the distant past, when weed was scarce and I wanted to take a few joints to a party to share around. They actually didn't taste too bad!

Basically, I think most of the people who use these excuses just enjoy the nicotine high, but for various reasons they feel ashamed to admit it. Nothing wrong with enjoying nicotine, mind you, to each their own. I love a good strong coffee in the morning, and I enjoy the buzz from caffeine. But I'll never make silly excuses like "I only drink it for the taste, not the buzz"

I smoke tobacco because it's a highly addictive fucker but even as a young lad of 17 I knew butting hash in a bong was dumb. It's a way for youngsters to make a blim last a weekend, no-one gets high but everyone coughs

I think you're totally right there, friend of mine that I was speaking to who just buys Thai weed as doesn't like the strength of skunk, also mixes in tobacco with that in a bong! And yeah, seems as if it's really the tobacco hit as well that he's after.

Maybe there should be some bongs that have tobacco allowed in and some not?

We did use to make a good mix though - only works with cheap crap hard hash that's too crap to burn properly on it's own, heat up the cigarette tobacco in a bit of foil burning off most of the nicotine, sprinkle in the hash in, mix up, heat again a little, mix, repeat and eventually it would all sort of puff up, making it able to burn properly in a bong. The things we do in our youth!

'tis horses for courses re. mixing in a joint, (big) pipe, chillum, etc. but in a bong?? NEVER EVER, & they who do are twats who miss the point completely!

I'm even teaching my body to smoke pure spliffs (and I'm a happy tobacco smoker too) now, if only the weed wasnt so fuckin expensive where I live... (I no I no, but I like a big fatty, baccey or not!)

@ StillSmokin: I dont believe you burn any of the nicotine that way, what you do is toast (dry) the baccey a bit, thus changing the burning rate of the mixture. 'tis the done thing when smokin squidgy charas-type hash in a chillum IME.

With the communal whinging about tobacco mixing as well, for fuck's sake, Do you here anyone calling you a Schrote for not mixing? It's cause they don't care how you smoke our own weed, just as your all fucked for saying "they've missed the point" or dumb, young whatever, cause you shouldn't give a fuck how someone smokes their own fucking weed. If they like to mix baccy into their weed, doesn't matter how many tears you put on our hanky, it aint going to change the way they like it. I never smoked cigs at this time , however many years of mixed joints and next thing I know I'm puffing a cig

I'm glad to say I have quit the evil weed this year (I think Iv smoked one cig this year so far , can't see me smoking another)

The no tobac has its benefits (more than health) I find I smoke a lot less spliffs now , so my stash lasts longer , win-win

While my network isn't as populated as it once was, I've had identical experiences.
I think if we surveyed the weed pharmacies, we would get a big "huh?" from behind the counter.
Adding tobacco still confuses me.
