Sailing Boats / Marina

Post by Puppa Ruff »

Hi all,
I'll be in de Dam in lil'less than 2 weeks fer a week, and I'd like to do something different and season-related this time...

where is a leisure marina where I can spend (part of) a day relaxing with a fattie or 3, watch some sailing boats, eat fresh fish/seafood from stalls or cheap restaurants, etc?!

any CSs worth visiting in such area or on the way?!

oh, and directions/best ways to get there from Centrum or De Pijp would be appreciated. 8)

ta in advance. BBB

The beach at Zaandvoort. A 20 minute train ride from Centraal Station.
Yank's and La Paz are the coffeeshops in town

Enjoy

ok, but I'm more confused now...

while Zandvoort seems a nice place to visit for beach + 2 coffeeshops, the nearest boats marina seems to be in IJmuiden, a "nice" 7.5 miles walk along the beach  , or a 45 mins suburban bus ride from Haarlem... (thanks googhel 'n its maps!)

*sorry if I come out pedantic, but I really dont wanna fuck this up!

EDIT: or is there a ferry to IJmuiden frum the back of Centraal?! (this 'un defies even googhel maps! :o )

There's a nice marina and some lovely boats at Uitdam, might be a bit far for you though, 30 min bus ride then 10 min walk. http://www.campinguitdam.nl/index-en.php
There's a fast ferry from Amsterdam to Ijmuiden http://www.iamsterdam.com/en-GB/Ndtrc/F ... ng%20Ferry can't comment on either the ferry or Ijmuiden, never used or been.
Zeeburgs alright for seeing boats sailing, can't remember a marina though

have a drink or lunch at Wilhemina dok and the yachts sail so close that you can chat to the crew as they pass. You'll have to have your joint on the way though, no smoking there
