Just a couple questions regarding the past two years...

Post by PeppersRUs »

Hey guys

Just wanted to clarify a few things for my trip to the Dam in August with the girlfriend, it's been a couple of years...

Ok so I've done some research and thank God this weedpass isn't coming in this year, but I still sense some vague areas. Has its looming presence changed the general attitude towards toking? Particularly in Vondelpark, last time I visited we regularly toked up there when we wanted to chill out for a while, is it still acceptable? (Obviously not anywhere near children/families, etc).

Also, the statuses of a few of the coffeeshops (have they been affected, etc);
Rookies
Dolphins
Noon

All near the Leidseplein, yes, but it's where I stayed my first visit and where we based ourselves frequently. None of the others in the town stick out of my mind, but I'm bringing a map :P

Any tips or anything for this visit would be much appreciated!

Thanks
PRU

Welcome to the forum.

What dates will you be in Amsterdam?
I'll post you on the Whos In Town page.
You can see who else may be in town and any Toke & Talks that are planned.

All mention coffeeshops are alive and well and open to tourists.

Haarlem, a day or half day trip for a different coffeeshop scene.

Enjoy

From reading I think 1 change is that some coffeeshops are enforcing more these days is to check id's. So while strictly speaking your supposed to have id with you at all times anyway, not that I ever have lol, its best to make sure you have id on you at all times as Voyagers is 1 coffeeshop that asks everyone for id and I think there are probably a few others to these days.

id is supposed to be carried on you when in coffeeshops. was told this last 2 trips. but still no one asked me for it at all (im 36 maybe 37) if you look young then id say its a must have, but i dont like the idea of walking round dam stoned off my face with my passport in my pocket. early trips i used to smoke in parks alot and surely there a few nice quiet places at vondel to smoke (ive seen untold people bonging away there). odds on youve been a few times now, get talking to the bud dealers, maybe say hi to stan (gapie)
and see a much better side of Amsterdam while your off your face ( and that goes for your girlfriend too).
have you been to depijp area yet? haarlem ( theres a lovely park near birdys)

if your walking down damrak ad see this bloke playing you are in for a treat

club media, de graal, kabouter, katsu, yoyo(all de pijp) then utopia, voyagers, grey area, paradox, 1e hulp. have a great time im sure there are some places near vondelpark that sell picnic hamper things which is worth doing if its nice and hot. or just hang around coffeeshops it depends which one you love more (for me it would always be coffeeshops)..

Thanks man, will be there 27th-31st of August!

Also, what are they like with rolling tobacco in your joints now? I heard from a friend they'd really tightened up on that.

stuart1976, those photos look great, so egged to get there!

Or if you get into Dam later than the 11am t&t just give a time and place for a t&t later in the day if you want. Because as said there are a number of us there on your dates.
