All too prophetic, redeyezman. Disaster struck the night after my previous post. There was a brief storm overnight and the plant snapped just where the stretching had begun. The top 40 cm was bent 180° downwards, without breaking the stem, but enough to cut off circulation. It looked beyond repair and in deep shock (everything wilted, even the new growth). I'd post a picture, but it might prove too distressing for some of ACD's more sensitive members.

I was looking at a nine month grow, and I don't think I have the patience for that. I also need to rethink the security aspect here. Outdoor growing needs more than the resources I have.

Mistakes made, lessons learned, on to a new grow.

Something doesn't sound right... :?

1. The plant may look beyond repair, but it's fine if you take proper steps. I could go on about it's properties, but I think you should read more about the plant itself.
2. Cannabis, any plant for that matter, will be in some form of shock when it's manipulated. Read about LST (Low Stress Training) and HST (High Stress Training).
If you trashed the plant, that's your loss. Sorry to be so abrupt, but you basically trashed a good plant that could easily have been grown if you knew what you were doing.
Even if the damage to the stem was sever enough to force having to cut it off, you could have rooted it or simply thrown the upper part away and continued the grow.

...and then there's the rest of the story. Wait for it...

Uncle Ron...I have read about LST and HST extensively. I knew the plant could theoretically survive, so I made a clean, sterilized cut just below the internode where the break was. I gave the plant a clean water flush and put it in the shade. It is still there, but all the leaves have dried up and there is no new growth. The plant may recover, but I'll be renaming it Lazarus if it does.

You want to see what I woke up to? Here ya go:

That looks pretty compared to what it looks like now. It has completely dried out.

So your criticism was a little harsh, but then again I didn't provide all the details.

Got a new grow going, which I won't document in this thread. Onwards and upwards. Happy farming...

Put it under 24hr light, the sooner the better, like now.
Also, allow the medium to air out just a tad, then hit it with a strong nute mix.
Good luck...

edit - yup, it's definitely in severe shock, but you might be able to recover it, if you want to put forth the effort.
Either way, too bad this happened. One of many issues with growing outdoors is the sudden change in weather.

So did you work out if it was leaf miners or mites as there is no such thing as leaf borers???

You haven't learnt anything much if at the first sign of trouble you just chuck it in.

Is the picture of the wilting, the top piece that broke off or the bottom?

The bottom should have just kept on going, don't put it in the shade.

If the picture is the top piece which snapped off then I also suggest stripping a lot of the leaf off. Plant/broken piece is obviously in shocked state. The less leaf that the plant has to support while in shock, the better. Also cuttings need to be kept in a humid environment. I think it won't survive as the piece is too big. Too long for a cutting. Wonders do happen though.
