well it looks like you could move furniture with that bike now
spidergawd wrote:Anyway I didn’t hang around as it was a beautiful day but went round to Dutch Flowers for a gram of Lemon Haze which was excellent; and with some of that in my vape I set off for a days bike ride, south out of the city along the Amstel. As I’ve said somewhat incoherently earlier, it was a pleasure to join the Amsterdammers at their leisure.
it sounds like you had a good adventure and the bicycle certainly made you mobile, good of you to hit the amsterdam surroundings for a change of scene, altogether your trip report is a good advertisement for the cycling trip to the netherlands

However I did get to say hello to everyone, but as I had to take the late night metro back to Amstel and I ain’t so quick on my feet any more I graciously (I hope), declined Bongs generous offer to get SPOONED. However something tells me that I will be back in November and I wont be saying niet if the offer comes my way again.
so november eh? ... maybe some spoon eh?
thanks for the write-up

Glad you enjoyed my trip folks.
Thats Felixstowe container port craig.
The carrier I bought to just tie a package to for that journey back, and the possibility that I might one day restore an old Dutch bike. It does look unwieldly but when loaded it was OK. It's just an old heap of a bike anyway

Money, passport and Bike

. No seriously, I dont know what cycling you do, I live in London and use my bike quite a lot if not daily, but for trips around town mostly. My Dutch rides are the only longer distances I do and thats because it's so much more relaxing and safe on their cycle system. I'd be off again tomorrow if I could afford it.

I recently eft Germany after 10 years there and would often ride to work which was only about 3 miles
Away. Took a 120 km ride on the Danube canal before I left that was great fun, would have been really nice with some smoking treats. Thanks for the inspiration to ride some more!

loved your report Spidergawd, being a fellow cyclist mostly mt bikes on/off road, this has given me the bug to do a trip like yours next year in the spring for a week, and hit the roads and trails, my wife doesnt ride(well only me lol), so if you do another trip somewhen i may be up for it if you fancied some company?
The Hogs back i know well aswell as i have rode that area many times, little to many hills for my liking though lol.
thanks for sharing your great trip!!

Damn forum just ate my post! Great trip report and pics Al. A good plan to toke and ride. Wish I'd gotten into Voyagers a little earlier on the day we bumped into each other. Would have loved to have tagged along for as long as I could have kept up!
Hope to get a chance to participate in an ACD bike ride someday.
Keep on rolling!

Thanks for the good words

.
Next spring treetop, it looks like a bit of a bike ride idea is taking shape, seems like a lot of ACDers want to get stoned and get out in the country for some fresh air so we shall see whats what when the time comes. We could have a few (gentle?) day trips for enjoyment rather than punishment

. I believe SS67 is oiling the old racing bike as we speak

, take care with the old back stoney your a pensioner like me now.

.
The dutch, some of whom I think were conceived on a bike, traditionally dont go in for sporty, racey bikes just to get about, comfort and utility are their parameters which I adopted some years ago.
If I'm just going to do days out then I will hire a bike in Amsterdam, If you notice half the bikes around are power assisted now, especially out on the country bike paths, you can hardly tell by looking at them now though the batteries are high tech and small enough to go into the frame tubes and the drive is in the hub. I think the emphasis is on power
assisted mainly to get some range. 50/50 leg power/battery assist. I think one of those might do me. I'm coming to Mokum in November so if the weather ok I'll have a go with one for a few days.
Blue skies

.
Amsterdam from just out of town to the south along the Amstel, didn't put that one in.
