coffeeshop risky business and Sensemillia are closest..30- 40 mins walk on each
youve screwed yourself by staying pretty far out of town, odds on those2 coffeeshops are crap. so your best bet is just to get a tram/bus not sure if your near a metro, or if your lazy get a taxi into town. http://9292.nl/en/journeyadvice/amsterd ... 07-24T2032 that what you need to do to get bus. good luck mate..

I don't know much about that area but these are from old research from my 1st trip (we stayed in the BW Blue Tower , not far from you).Walking to a CS from there not sure ,

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/Marbella.html
Now called Old Times , i know sod all about this place , about a 15/20 min walk.

Now this 1 https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/Loft.html excellent shop , part of a very nice chain  haven't been in a while but should be all good , don't think i've read anything bad recently , 20/30 min walk or out of hotel , down to tram stop , your commuting so i'm guessing you have a travel pass of some sort , onto tram 7 , heading north, off when you get to
Jan van Galenstraat & Loft is right there on that crossroads

Here are some maps that might help you out:

Blue Square Hotel by Google

Amsterdam West by Lemming

Amsterdam Old West by Lemming

It might be fun to try a coffeeshop where no one from this forum has been. What's a vacation without a little adventure?

Get a couple of menu pictures for FlybyNite!

Have a great trip

1 thing , i'm guessing all the BW hotels have the same rules so under no circumstances would I smoke in there , can't remember the exact fine ,250/500E (might be more) taken straight from the card that made/reserved the booking  the arsehole at the front desk of the tower even moaned at me for stinking out the whole reception , when I was smoking outside at the smoking point(ashtray on the wall)

you're really out of the way out there... almost like being in a different town. I'd advise you to rebook your hotel

It is 25 minutes on one tram so im not bothered, Unfortunately i am pretty poor and this trip is alot of saving.

I dont see why 25 minutes is a big deal? it also means i have around 400 euros extra spending money which is alot of smoke.

I got this hotel dirt cheap (45 euro a night for 2 people!) i just want to make sure i get to experience dam in all its glory before the potential ban in january.

But you guys are the experts is it really worth me cutting my spending money from 1200 to 800 to avoid a 50 minute round trip each day?

No!

There are coffeeshops that are pretty close to you. You can buy some in these places, later on bring some goodies in from Centraal (Voyagers, Utopia?), buy a drink or two and smoke away. Be sure to check the balcony and smoking situation as the fine would be a real "buzz kill!" Remember, the easiest solution to a "No Smoke" zone is EDIBLES!

You should look at the commute as an opportunity to do some exploration. Check the tram route and get off a time or two on your way in to Centraal/Dam. There is a lot of interesting stuff on the way in. Weed is only part of why you are there! Don't forget the museums, RLD, food, beer, and the joy of walking in Amsterdam.

Whatever you decide it will be good; Enjoy!! What's a vacation without a little adventure?

Your setting yourself up for the next trip!
