Your best bet is to catch the train to Amsterdam (it takes about 15 mins) and head over to Central Coffeeshop.

Or rastababy if you were so inclined? They're pretty much the same distance.

I'd personally choose Central CS over Rastababy anyday of the week.
Better selection of wares although not near as spacious. Plus, I think Central opens at 7am. Bonus if yer in town early with little time to spare.
While they are both essentially at opposite ends of Centraal Station, Central has definitely got to be the closer of the two from one entrance/exit of the station to the shop.
Just my 3 euro cents...

Here is a question - for those that have a short layover in Schipol and want to pop in for a quick smoke.
Last time in Mokum I learned how to get into the city taking the Zuid/WTC train from Schipol - it was a blazing 7 minute ride - Is there a shop close to the Zuid/WTC area within walking distance?
Otherwise - I would also recommend Central - last time I had an hour to kill before a train and a quick smoke at Central was perfect - nice shop with simple layout and great pre-weighed smoke.

I've taken that train, unfortunately no shops that I know of. Though technically there are a couple of shops in Amstelveen near the airport, you can't get there by public transport, you'd need a car (taxi). Sucks. Central would be the way to go for me, too, especially cause of the opening time. XXX 25 Euro bag, please.

Just my two cents, but I'm on the opposite side; if it came down to choice, I'd always pick Rastababy over Central for the spaciousness, view, and less-expensive weed.
But I love them both, Central opens at 7 a.m. and Rastababy at 9 a.m.(ish), so it could be a time thing, too.
You can't go wrong either way.

To be honest, from a cartographer's point of view, there's quite a fair few shops very close to the station besides rastababy and central (though none quite as close as central), for example
route 99 and
prix d'ami are right off damrak, with
de kroon and
de kuil only a block farther, while
hunters bar and
coffeeshop 36 are only a little farther in the other direction at the north end of warmoestraat, which puts you right on the edge of a huge selection of coffeeshops =P.

Good point. I think he should hit them all.

though they all look close they arent THAT close and unless you know the city really well its not as easy to find a coffeeshop when you first get into dam. i'd say central aswell, or funny people is fairly close i think

Id say either Central or Future
Futures only 2 minutes further away and is always quiet and has a nice house selection. I normally start there with some Skunk Hasj (Verrryy nice) and a bag of Jack. Very reasonable prices too
