Summer In Amsterdam

Hi, I am going for my 14th trip August 24th-27th and I have never been on a real summer weekend, as we usually go in the cheaper Autumn / Winter period.
We are hoping that the weather is very sunny and hot

.
Just a quick one...
What are we to expect if this is the case, are the terraces busy all day, people smoking and drinking outdoors constantly?
Where is good to check out?
I was thinking Leidseplein square on one of the tables with a bag of pot and a bar session, canal cruise where you can drink and smoke etc and drinks in the Winston beer garden.
If there is anywhere where you think we should check out, please post.

Someone on their fourteenth visit needs little guidance.
Enjoy your trip.

I just love discussion mate.
It's my fourteenth trip but also a different one.
We are going out to a club there on the Rembrantplein on the Saturday night which I have never done before.
And I genuinely wanted to know what the summer is like over there, apparently there is street walker prostitutes etc...

The parks of course. If its blue skies, get yoursrlf down to saphartipark (sp?) or vondel park, with a picnic and a book (if alone) and enjoy a nice spliff in the sun. Just remember to be polite and discreet, vondel park especially has loads of tucked away spots to be private in. Just dont waste your time sitting in the museum park, is crowded and boring.
If your up for something really summery, you can get to the beach, on the train just beyond haarlem. I forget the name of the area but its really do-able. 45 mins from central station. I know that flying pig have a hostel there too if you wanted to stay out.
Overall, I think luckily amsterdam is not really weather dependant.cant beat a bit of sun though when walking between places. And its so refreshing not having to wrestle with wet hat gloves and jackets in a mashed state, every time you arrive somwhere.

There used to be "brown boats" you could smoke on. Anyone know if they still run and where from?
