December 2012

Will be there for the week leading up to Christmas. It will be my third trip to Amsterdam and if my girlfriend goes with me, it will her first time ever. It would be great to meet other travelers (one usually does anyway in a coffeeshop). I know that this visit may coincide with the end of an era, sadly, as the Weitpass may get enforced in January 2012 if the SP doesn't win in September. Can't wait to get there. In the meantime, I'll live vicariously through other travelers who post here.

some of the coffeeshops I visited in July 2011 and May 2012:

Abraxas (touristy, but good weed)
RokerIJ (two of the four branches)
Katsu
Easy Times (this was my first coffeeshop experience)

Hey Mellow, you're right, i did a search and realized that the Rokerij shops were closed down back in April. In May, I went by two of their establishments and assumed they were closed because I was there on a Dutch holiday. How sad. I have not been to Amsterdam in December, or in cold weather for that matter, so looking forward to that. It will be great if you can make it then. Would like to try the spacecakes

Ive never been in December, Ive been a good few times around October and November and it was as cold as Scotland is in those months so I imagine it will be pretty frosty around Xmas! Ive been reading round the boards and Paradox is rated for there space cakes, I think they have 1.25g per slice! I would rather have a few slices of that than christmas cake anyday!

December 2012: the end of an era?

Thanks for the info on the cakes, Mellowstu! I've not tried those yet, at least not in Holland. I've heard mixed reviews from the ones they sell at Abraxas, but never found out first hand, so your info about Paradox is quite useful. By the way, my girlfriend and I are thinking of going to Edinburgh in May (first visit for either of us in Scotland). Have a great trip in October.

I'll post you on the Whos In Town page.

You have been posted on the December Whos In Town page.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

If you don't see yourself, click your refresh or reload button
Your browser sometimes loads pages from your local cache and
you don't get the latest update.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.
Or post one of your own. All I need is a date, time, and coffeeshop to post it.
You seem to have a few favorite shops. Watch Whos In Town and when enough
people are in town, pick one and do a T&T. Get date, time, and shop to me and
I will post it.

As I see it a Toke and Talk is a win, win, win situation.

1. Nobody shows up. You have spent an hour in a coffeeshop of your choice.
This goes in my win column.

2. One or more people show up. You meet some new friends in a great atmosphere.
Yep, another win.

3. Everyone in town shows up and it turns into a coffeeshop crawl.
This might be the biggest win of all.

To ID yourself something as simple as a rolling paper with your user name
written on it and stuck to the front of your shirt/coat will work.As an after
thought, stuck to you forehead would really work.

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/membe ... le&u=78627

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.

Cheers mate, Im sure we will have a blast! Im fairly sure I will be over in December, planning on popping over on my own so would be cool to meet up for a cheeky j or two.
Edinburgh is a nice city although they talk with a strange accent and dont seem to have tomato sauce in the chip shops?! It shouldnt be too cold in May, Im sure you will enjoy it.

FlybyNight, I like your optimism regarding the coffeeshops. I haven't had a bad experience yet in one and I almost always meet new people there.

Mellowstu, thanks for advice about Edinburgh, I take it you're from Glasgow or Aberdeen or somewhere else? I can't wait for December, I'll let you know where I'm staying once I get my travel plans confirmed. I'm leaning heavily towards Amsterdam Cribs, though. Can't wait.
