Arrived saturday at 1130 ish Schipol, and i had said to myself before i left to keep the greed monster at bay,but as usual i'm marching away and the non toker mrs is unimpressed as usual with her usual face on
Get to Centraal and were only staying over at the Inntel on new side kolk,plan was to check in and head to Utopia but as soon as i see the hotel and Betty's 20 metres away my willpower crumbled,in i go.
Been up n down the last few visits here but i just need a hit to chill me out,a new menu i see,some unheard of strains there too.Noticed LA Con at 16 euro
I spot Casey Jones at 13euro,smells good in the tub,that'll do
Sit out and roll a couple,not the best flavour,hit is weak too,especially for my first toke of the trip,as Utopia's open early doors think this will be my last visit to Bettys,not the same as it was years ago.
Check in quick and result,right away Embralady wants to ditch me and do a bit shopping,probably keeping away till i'm stoned enough to be around,i'm a bit impatient till the thc levels are restored
Right over to Utopia,man its good to be back,Ingi serving,place is half full.Have to wait till a punter gets served,get talking,say i just arrived,he apologizes for keeping me from a smoke,its cool i say as i realise i'm enjoying this wait,just to be in a relaxing shop when i know the weeds gonna be good is a good feeling,i start to relax a bit,cursing myself for always being so impatient ,arsehole
Say hello to Ingi and get me some Kandy Kush to start,fancied the Honey Haze but none in,13 a gram for the KK
Spark one then notice Ingi helping 2 punters with serious whiteys going on,these guys look like shit,can't move,she explains politely that it doesn't look good for the shop, gives them energy juice and wet towels but these dudes are not livening up at all,even after the juice,turns out they had munched some space cake earlier,ive not seen anyone this stoned in a long time,Ingi asks how theyre doing,dude replies,licking lips

Discreetely watch as i enjoy my smoke,cracking taste and power too,these guys weed paralysis reminding me to pace myself a bit.
Embralady shows so onwards for some lunch, then she wants to go to Amnesia and sit down for a bit,she likes it there.
I used to love this place years ago but since the refurb and Barneyfication its not the same,get a gram of LSD,mainly for nostalgia but smelt good,13 again i think,smoked alright too but feel this has deteriorated over time too,used to knock me bandy this one.
Chill with a shake n coffee a while,then back to hotel to freshen up.
Getto on Warmoesstraat for dinner,gorgeous steak n burger,then to Voyagers to stock up for the night.
Get in,SSD on the menu,14 euro i think,,sweet,been wanting to try this,smells good so a chunk of that and some Wild Lemon?to try too,only 10 euro a g.
Embralady a non toker so we don't stay,away to get a drink,spot empty tables at Molly Malones,right on Voyagers canal,never been here but nice spot, folk blazing,dude playing guitar/ covers inside,so sit ourselves down.
I'm enjoying my SSD,tasty smoke,really smooth,nice fx,not crazy strong,mellow buzz,good with a beer.
Wild Lemon was good as well,no notes but mind it being ok,value price too.

Go inside later and they're cool with me rolling to smoke outside,finish the night here,then stroll around and back to hotel,after about 6 grams and 6 drinks,slept like a baby,good first day.Post 2nd/3rd day later.

alot of people will know how much I love Bettys the up & down really pisses me off ,the bt last trip cock, I know it went downhill a few years back when the owner died but his son eventually brought it back up
BT Michael(sp) leaving was a big mistake for them (although he has left & returned twice so far ), great guy who knew his job , think i'll always love the place , really hope it doesn't go to shit again .

Ft Carer-Thanks,its just the friendly tender i miss/atmosphere not the same,don't get me wrong,staff weren't rude,maybe i just picked the wrong bud this time,but thats been a few trips now with different staff and just o.k buds,loud shit music on,shame,used to be my early morning spot upstairs when staying nearby,Utopia from now on
Probably would be anyway even if Bettys was good to be honest,not had a 'bad' visit here yet,nice people
I know you love this place,menu did look interesting,i'm sure you'll give them another visit and see yourself,if the wife books the Inntel again can't guarantee my legs won't take me in again either ,nostalgia overrules my head sometimes,Rookies,A mnesia.......

Hypno-Thanks,I was jealous a bit actually,never seen anyone that affected in a while,even on the verge of a whitey,i can always move about,these guys could barely blink .It was only lunchtime,think they had the cake elsewhere then had a smoke as it hit and bam-game over,and though Ingi said it looked bad and i know why,a bit of me thought i'm having what theyre having lol, bit early in the day for cakes though,they'll learn

Up early and straight to Utopia as the mrs gets her self up n about.
Female tender on today,looks familiar for some reason,after a quick look,grab some Champagne Haze,13 a gram,enjoyed this at Media before,smells the same,gorgeous,looks lovely too.Blast a couple of spliffs,chill for a bit,theres nice tunes on,bud is great tasting and hitting me hard,cracking smoke.
Get talking,tender tells me her name is Amanda and used to work at Media,remember her now ,get directions to Funky Munky as i feel like trying a new shop today,its out near 1e hulp,a kind guy at the counter shows me on google view or whatever its called,sweet.
Make a move as this Champagne hitting home on an empty stomach,liven up a bit when i walk back,just as well,its only 930
Hit bagel n beans for breakfast after collecting Embralady,then take a stroll out to Funky Munky.Pass Paradox close by and realise not been there for a while,i'm tempted but no,i like to try new shops too,so keep going.
Arrive,girl opens a window hatch to serve me bud,menu is not huge but o.k looking,think i'll look at the Cheese,smells dodgy though,i say nah,she looks shocked,ok what do you reccomend at the moment then please?
'Try blue cheese then',ok,smell that,its a bit dodgy too no,not for me again,i say,shes like WHAAAAT!! my mrs is looking to me at her reaction now,but i'm cool,a bit amused at her,now i'm not an expert on bud,but i know what i like,they both smelt a wee bit damp n dodgy,and even if im wrong,i'm the buyer,i wasn't rude,just said no,i'm about to walk away when she goes'Try Amnesia then!'and thrusts the tub at me lol,smells n looks ok so take a gram,charges me 10 though it says 11 on the menu,cheer her up by telling her i'm staying to smoke it,she buzzes me in.
The shops got a crummy darts theme going on ,internet and pool table,some window tables overlooking a canal,sat and blazed up,amused and annoyed at the service,should have turned and went to 1e hulp,but fuck it it was an experience,obviously not to be repeated.
Got me pining for Paradox,so head back that way
Score some cheap Turkish Hash,and a couple of good coffees,friendly bud guy,nice tunes,mrs is happy here with her Kindle,much more fucking like it,such a chill wee shop,gonna return again next trip for sure,head into town for chips at place behind Dampkring for lunch,lekker
Embralady is now going for a massage so what to do for an hour?
10 mins later i'm in Voyagers,get some Sour Power,pungent in the tub,smells beautiful,sit and skin a couple,a great smoke,tasty and strong,shop is quiet,sit daydreaming away till the mrs shows.
Dinner in Getto again, as always lovely,then embralady wants to go to a bar she read about 'Cafe Pollux',a couple of blocks along from Voyagers on Prins Hendrikade,ok then,off we go
As we arrive,i see tables out and relax,at least i'm ok then,go in and realise we were in here years ago,typical dutch pub,only 1 strangeish looking women in,plus the owner,his pal and the older barman,sit and chill,owners ok with me toking outside,heater for bald head too,bonus
Starts raining really heavy and lightning is flashing so looks like were staying a while,the owners pal gets a guitar out on a tiny stage and between songs gets a bit banter going,taking the piss out a guy whose came in with his girl out the rain a wee bit,we can see the guy getting a red face,obviously pissed off but the guy was only being cheeky not out of order,2 mins later the guys grabbing his girl and away though,5 punters in and just scared 2 away ,the owner just looks amused too, thought he'd be pissed.
Some locals come in later and the Dutch folky/drinking songs get put on the Jukebox,the previously very professional old barman then starts drinking himself,ends up dancing about waving his towel as a prop,serenading a women ,funny as fuck,no idea what they were singing about though.
The cross eyed strange looking women who had kept swapping seats?-in a nearly empty pub?-then went out the door with a guy who came in 5 mins before,looked a nervous touristy type,to great guffaws from all the staff and punters,who seemed to know her,saying 60 euro?she'll eat him alive!,she was a scary looking chick,i'm sure she would,funny night,a nice wee bar if your passing or staying this way.
Leave at 1250 as i need a bag of bud for a last wee smoke,sunday though,so running out of time a bit.
Heading back along Warmoestraat when i decide Hunters will do,just need a gram,worried de kuil will be shut,not been in here for a while.
Spot Chemdog,mmmm,beeen a while since i tried that,13 euro i think,smelled good,ground up too dry though,shame,nice flavour,power in it,a wee bit harsh though,not surprised the shop was boiling and packed out,roll one to walk with and spot the 6.50 euro milkshake advertised,6.50!mental price,just roll n go back to the hotel.

Sunday 30 July,last day

Up early as usual and straight over to Utopia for a wake n bake,Amanda serving again,i've been holding off on getting the Kushberry,after checking its good "It wasnt as great as usual a couple of days ago,seems good again now",great,get myself some and again impressed with the service here,we all know some shops would sell ya any old crap or direct you to the top price bud all the time,the only downside for me is my mrs likes the shops like Amnesia,Media,the wine bar look,but i'm not here for the wallpaper,if she liked it more i'd be here half the day.Kushberry is real nice but i'm still stoned from getting little sleep and head after a few spliffs,just minding the coffees on the way back,thank fuck.
Off to Bagel n beans for a BLT then jump a tram to the Pijp,away to visit Media,always look forward to this shop ,been here every trip for about 8 years,never a crap bud,like the peace too.
Not today though,shop is rammed for once,mainly locals as usual,i get some Silver Bubble ,12 euro a gram,enjoyed it last visit,smells awesome again,sit and chill for an hour or two,the Bubble is nice n tasty,hard hitting too,meant to buy something else but forgot on the way out,don't know how as they got menus on all the tables now,i'd read it solid for 20 minutes
Take a stroll around the market and the mrs coos over the kittens and puppies in the pet shop,then walk back via Leidseplein.
Stop at Rookies for a coffee only,the menu was boring looking,as theres seats outside sit out for another spliff in the sun,then a slow walk back to the centre.
Not got long left so pop into Utopia and meet Nel for the first time,a wee chat and decide on the Kandy Kush again,i loved this weed,really tasty,i don't want to be too high on the plane though,more stoned so get some Isolator to add a wee kick.
The mrs needs a drink or two for the flight so we sit out at a bar near to Betty Boop.
I blaze away at my leftovers,trying and failing to stop looking at the time every 10 minutes,hate the last bit before the airport,reluctantly head off after i roll my schipol spliffs,blast them outside the check in,isolator was a wee bit overpowering of the Kandy Kush but a nice end to the trip,overall as usual Voyagers,Utopia,Paradox and Media all excellent,Amnesia,Bettys and Hunters all just o.k,Funky Munkey crap.
Good overall trip,that much so we are back in 7 weeks again ,probably our last for a while,but weve said that before............
