Visiting Amsterdam for the first time this Aug 12-14. Looking for a nice place to hang out and have good conversation, meet new people and have a good time. I'm in my 40's, so looking for an older crowd.... any suggestions?

If you want to meet somewhere for a beer and a smoke either on 12th or 13th let me know.
I know no-one in Amsterdam (although meeting Gapie tomorrow night) so love the idea of meeting new friends.

go to the other side cafe batavia where u can smoke drink and eat - BYO Bring yer own weed/hash
cafe nes to see and say hi to dc dave and for a cold beer and an joint sometimes u can bring yer own food with u if ask the bartender - BYO Bring yer own weed/hash
utopia is nice plaze for a chat with the budtender and a coffee

Gapie... Thanks for the list. I will check them out. I was reading reviews on a place called...hmmm....I forget, but started with an X.... kinda looked cool, but would love a nice comfortable relaxing environment.

I'm staying at the Qbic Hotel... I think it is just outside of the city, but easy enough by public transport 20-30 min. Still not sure how that works either, but I will find out when I get there...lol... I'm American, so it takes me a bit to get used to how things work.

Well I live in a little village in England that only has 1 bus service so I'm not great with transport either
Looking at a map, Leidseplein looks like the right side of the city for you, it's close to my hotel too.
I've only been to Amsterdam once and the best Coffeeshop I found around Leidseplein was the Rokerij but apparently that has now closed.
I don't know if there's a good bar around the Leidseplein that is ok with people smoking joints in or another nice coffeeshop. Anyone any suggestions?

But I'm easy, I have a few days off from the world for the first time in ages so anywhere, anytime that suits you, just let me know and I'll be there!

the waterhole is a great bar in Leidseplein you can smoke too, they have a pool table and live music,

Sounds good to me also... but I'll need to get some smokes first I like shooting pool, so that would be awesome... I should be in town on the 12th by 3pm, want to get settled at the hotel first, then try to make my way out... I will look at the map and see where everything is, but hopefully we can meet sooner than later... need help figuring things out
