Oostende and Sluis

Post by dogsnob »

Hi there

I'll be in Oostende next week for a few days, is there any place I could go to score some weed ? Just for myself, not a great ammount. Will I need to get a train into the Netherlands ? What would be the easiest way to do this ? I will be on a coach tour and have the option to visit Sluis one day - does De Heksenketel sell weed, or only smarts ?

Many thanks - the situation here in Manchester is dire atm..... :(

Well this is an Amsterdam forum, but someone here's probably been in that area of belgium and can help you out.

From research, though, Heksenketel only sells smarts, due to apparent opposition in the town to coffeeshops (I guess they dont wanna draw a bunch of belgian tourists?) The nearest coffeeshop I could find was 40km, apparently there's none in any of the surrounding towns of Sluis within reasonable distance.

So... hope someone more knowledgable than myself comes along! =P And welcome to the forum.

Actually, the name Amsterdam Coffeeshop Directory is an anachronism. For many years the site has covered the whole of the Netherlands and includes smartshops, headshops and growshops.

There are definitely coffeeshops in Terneuzen, Vlissingen and Middelburg. See here.

Yeah, but those are all at least 40km away. =P Not really sure how he'd get there. But nonethless, it's certainly an option.

(by the way, that page was the one I was referring to. This really is the best website ever made about soft drugs in the netherlands, and I'm not sure I realized it until today =P)

Fair point, there are no trains, but there are probably good bus services.

Thanks for the replies, folks, the information is most welcome. We'll be based in Ostend and will have a whole day to ourselves so it looks like we'll be getting a cheap day return to one of the Dutch border towns, whichever one is best served by the railway. Maybe there's a Thalys train that goes straight through to Amsterdam, I can only find a journey that takes 4 hours on raileurope.com.
