Yeah, I've had a read, a shame about the hassles with your flight. And never knew you could take dogs on the plane with you as always thought they had to go in a pressurized section of the hold?.
I must say, your a lucky bigger being able to go for what, 3 weeks. And always wanted to try staying on a boat, but they are not really viable for the sole person going on there own.

This is the dog's 6th trip to Amsterdam - he started at 6 months of age. He travels really well, and frankly it is cheaper than boarding him for a lengthy stay. (we live in NYC)
Three weeks - first time we have taken this much time off in one chunk since the 80's, when we were in china and Tibet for months.
The houseboat - we rented it a year prior to actually have the chunk of time available. And yeah, it is really worth doing on at least one of your future visits - maybe some one would like to join you. : >
Re: Live report August 2012
Well I have friends who still goto Dam and who I have been with in the past etc. But these days because most of us have families its now impossible to arrange the same dates together for the same time of year going for the same period of time we all want to go for.
Besides, these days most of them do the weekends which I don't really like doing as the packed into to busy a place irritates me and what most of them do for every place they go. Can't chill when the places are to packed etc.

Best report I ever saw on Channels. Seems as if a bad start is a good omen for the rest of the trip. Like the bullshit was out of the way when you deal with it first... Thanks for sharing and have a great time!

enjoying yer report WC, seems ye have a real gift wid words (from a wannabe writer myself)
as for a stay in a houseboat: I SO want one, but I tend to travel solo too, and always on a frakin strict budget (read: all the monies go up in smoke, quite literally)
