The strong performances by PvdA in the TV debates mean that some SP voters are leaking towards the PvdA. Thus a 'purple' coalition idea is being floated of VVD-PvdA-D66. Such a Coaltion existed in the good old days of 1994-2002. Both PvdA and D66 are against the wietpas, wanting to fully update the laws so that there is a hospitality angle included, so this would be good for halting the rot.

"income tax would be raised from 52% to 65% on those earning above £119,000 a year."

Ouch!

Lets try to hope and assume that the new government will be a mix of fairly coffeeshop friendly political parties etc. How soon would they have the power or be in a position to halt the introduction of the weed pass?.

To form the actual government and, appoint the ministers to there positions etc will take time, more so when it will be a coalition. Assumingly they would have to sit and debate the weed pass policy to either halt or scrap it if it would need a change to actual law to stop or reverse it.

So is it possible the new government might not even have time to scrap the weed pass before 1st of Jan 2013 because of the issues involved and those coffeeshops already closed due to an early introduction of the weed pass law will also have to be dealt with as to how to deal with solving those who may have closed and may probably want and have a legal right to reopen if the weed pass law is scrapped and that would mean giving out new licences which they don't do under law any longer?.

So surely regardless of some parties intention to scrap the weed pass, with the mess it has already caused it will more likely need an entirely new law on cannabis and coffeeshops and that could take a very long time to sort id have thought?.

Just a few thoughts of mine of cause, but does anyone know how quickly the new government might take to deal with all this or could it even be to late in the short term?.

Sounds about right. Coffeeshops are hardly going to be a priority for the incoming government whoever they might be.

My guess is there might be a period where the ban comes in de facto but is not enforced except in those places where the local power people want it to be enforced. That would rule out Amsterdam where it seems almost everyone including the police is against the wietpass.

Hoping for a triumph of pragmatism over ideology come Jan 1st in Amsterdam at the very least.

Well with the VVD in the lead, i think that's it folks. I will be jumping on a plane before January for one last visit. It's been a glorious 21 years visiting this great laid back city. Oh well Spain next year or perhaps BC all is not lost.

Stoner vote being galvanised, if that isn't too strong a word. It probably is. http://www.heraldnet.com/article/201209 ... /709059913

Assuming the quoted numbers are estimated seats by the respective parties etc, how many seats are needed as a minimum to form the new government?.

And another question, does the biggest seat winning party have the first option of forming a new government with any other party, or can any mix of smaller parties form a new government first if they can get the minimum seats threshold quicker than the biggest seat winning party?.

This is an informative read, thanks for providing the link.

It appears that the coffeeshops are just one pawn in this whole campaign, and will be easily forgotten when more important issues arise.

Does anyone know what time the election results are, would they be out on the 12th?

And then once the results are out, assuming there's not going to be one party in charge by the looks of things, does that take them a while to piss about for a bit and decide who's going to join who to be in charge?

Just wanna know as I'm out there from the 11th, so would hopefully be a bit of a party going on if the weedpass is scrapped I'm sure
