geeks: I would go for it. It might be good pot :)

Pipo: I was at Het Ballonnetje on August 19. I thought I ordered White Rhino and Materkush. I was pretty stoned at the time.

EasilySuede: I'm impressed they'd hand out such nice maps!

We're going to have a hard time deciding on an itinerary, I think :)

Count me in for a bike trip!

ok this thread has got under my skin and i haven't been able to get it out of mind, the appeal of a good toke'n'spoke is almost too wonderful to pass up, so yesterday i ordered a copy of ...

ANWB Fietskaart 13
Noord-Holland zuid
Amsterdam & Kennemerland

... the cycling map for amsterdam and haarlem and the zuid kennemerland nationaal park etc

the map was delivered today in the post and i am already poring over it looking at all the routes, i will have to translate the legend from the dutch though

i would really love to make this particular trip in 2013 and will do my best to get there on a bike to join you all too

EasilySuede: a) We are never going to able to agree on an itinerary b) I think Piramide would meet my needs c) The Dudok architectural walk, whilst stoned, sounds grand.

StonedSince'67 et al.: It's stunning the bike tour is gaining steam. It's wonderful.

Well lets hope it will happen I'm sure if it does it will be a gas.
I dont know what age you all are but I do know a couple of us are knocking on a bit so some compromises would be needed, or some of the speedy types will get a bit cheesed off waiting around. :D :D

There is however an Image in the room, so I live in hope, or I'll take my own. :D

This is a fantastic idea. I'd be really excited if this did ever happen. In my 3 previous trips to Amsterdam, I have done virtually no exploring outside the city.

I would consider myself to be a relatively fit and active person still in my 20's (just), but add a little stoniness into the picture, and I'm pretty sure its the more senior members of the group that would be getting cheesed off waiting for me :D :D

Please please please keep us updated if any plans come into fruition

Robyn and I are coming back for 420 and Queensday in 2013, one of our goals is to ride a bike in Holland. I will be lurking here. We are COOTs and do not ride bikes here in rural PA

quiky, great thread 8)

re: itineraries- doesn't take much to convince me one way or the other

I think it was Uncle Ron who mentioned in another thread a park crawl around the city on a scooter. This sounds like a nice idea for bikes as well.

thanks so much easilysuede for all this information, it is lovely to have all these possibilities to consider ... we're spoiled for choice i think

hmmm, seven months to get cycling fit ...

ps edit later ... i have been looking at all the route suggestions and thinking about the practicalities of the acd tour van netherlands

if there was to be a bike ride (or two or three) which aimed for a coffeeshop (assuming there are still coffeeshops in april 2013) in order to have a toke&spoke, it would be nice if people of different levels of experience and fitness could all meet up at the same place

i would like to suggest to the routemaster(s), ie the people who are knowledgeable and experienced in cycling in the netherlands (eg quiky, easilysuede, spidergawd, etc), that when they design a route to a coffeeshop, they consider designing three routes from the starting location to the coffeeshop, the first route would be the shorter/easier way for those with little fitness or cycling experience, the second would be a little bit longer and harder for those with a little bit more fitness/experience, and the third would the longest and hardest for those who are looking for a tougher ride

this way we could all have the cycle ride of our choice and still meet up at the same coffeeshop

EasilySuede: Alkmaar sounds like another good choice: It's got a decent coffeeshop and it's on a train line.

StonedSince'67: Clearly, you're in good company in wanting to take it easy on the Toke & Spoke. The way my friends and I have adjusted for varying fitness levels is to choose routes near train lines. When a portion of the group grew tired, they'd head for the nearest station and take the train the rest of the way to the destination.

The other benefit of the train is that it gets people back to Amsterdam in the evening, if that's their inclination. Of course, each group of riders needs to have an ANWB map for the trip as well as a pump and patch kit, but that's easy enough. The knooppunts on the map keep you from getting lost even when you're pretty high :)

spidergawd: Keukenhof Gardens also sounds intriguing and do-able. Participants could choose to ride from Haarlem or Amsterdam, depending on their level of ambition.
