Quest for Amsterdam's Diamonds Pt5 August12 Smoke Report

Post by pengaldinho »

My 15th quest to find top quality hasj's and mouth watering wiet's. :D

Day 1
Got the early flight
Image

Anyday – really friendly tender – gave us a free vape hit of the Rootang. Best service of the trip, playing nice reggae too.
2g Rootang E22 – so sticky and oily it is hard to handle, that’s why it is sold in little plastic containers. When opening it up some of the crystals inside looks almost red. Spent ages looking at it though my scope. And the high matched its aesthetic qualities- lovely uppy/floaty buzz.

1g Reserva X E14 – Nice piece of soft Moroccan goodness.

Image
1g King Hassan E12 – A harder more crumbly pollen, nice flavour.
Image
Image

Voyagers
2g Sour Power E15 – nice smell that did transfer well to taste, just not my cup of tea.
Image
Image
1g Olympic Kush E15 – Similar to the SP, tasted a lot like it smelled, had an nice stone but just not for me.
Image

Dropped our bags of at the hotel and head out into sunny:

Vondelpark, armed with a fat Rootang spliff(perfect sunshine smoke)

Papilion
4g Cream Special E9 – The more oilier and darker of the two. Not quite as good as the Gardela, but still a great smoke.
2g Gardela E11 – The lighter, more sandy looking. Nice taste, gives an instant buzz that settles you down into nice relaxing stoney bubble. Blissful.

I paid E42 for 5g of primo hash, amazing value! (15% off 5g)

De Graal – I love this shop as the do not sell Loozas! Nice glass of pear juice for E2, instead of 200ml of crap.
1g Cream E15 – was disappointed to see the Gredela off the menu, but I did see Jesscass post in the De Graal thread saying that the cream was good. And it was LOVLEY! Put a huge smile on my face.

Image
1g NYCD E12 – I got over excited when I saw this on the menu and immediately grabbed a gram. Should have looked – smells like a little bit of NYCD, but mostly fresh cut grass. Poor.
Image

Cafe Lootje – That steak - slightly crispy outside, velvety smooth on the inside, the buttery goodness- Perfection! Only negative is that I was so looking forward to the butter sauce, as soon as it arrived I dunked some fires in and burnt my taste buds, but it was worth it. Mmmmmmm.... (pic form last trip)

Back to the hotel with:
Some juice

Sour Power ready to roll

Sunset

Sat back and watched the athletics, including Bolts 100m, in a thick cloud of hash smoke.

I'm gutted. For me just a few weeks ago the NY Diesel from de Graal was the highlight of all the green I tried – the most distinctive of any strain ever for me with respect to taste, and the effect wasn't bad either. I've banged on about it a couple of times already, and someone else put it in their list of top five as well. I was so looking forward to going back and getting a gram or two, but is this a different batch, or just something where tastes differ? Mine looked a bit different: https://picasaweb.google.com/kurwamac/M ... 6052164370

Craig- Every trip i manage to forget how crap Loozas are. They don't taste great, last about two sips, leave a weird after taste and after drinking a few my stomach starts to churn. The apple one tastes like vinegar  Oh and the cream was as good as it looks :P De Graal is a hash heaven.

Ouirdeaux - NYC Diesel is also one of my all time favorite smokes for flavor. I describe it as 'Powerful moreish tart ruby grapefruit nectar fuel'. Every trip i am on the hunt for a good sample ever since i first had it from Pink Floyd in 2003. In the last few years the best i have got has been: Love potion (nycd x sweet tooth) from Borejongens, Sour Diesel from Basjoe, NYD from HGF and most recently NYCD from 1e Hulp (see my last report). This sample i got from De Graal was a poorly grown, not finished or dried/cured properly. Batches change, sometimes daily, so make sure you look/smell before you buy. I looked at 5 more diesels and purchased 3 on the rest of my trip. None of them were as godly as they can be, but they were good. stay tuned for more diesel details.

Sensi - It was room 69 on the top floor. Nice view but i got bitten about 20 times, there were loads of mozzies and other fuckers. The grassy ledge outside the window isn't good in the summer when its swarming. At least i had lots of THC to numb the pain :D

Day 2

1E Hulp
2g Nycd E12 – Smelt good in the tub, a few components of the diesel taste but not the whole package like April. Still decent smoke.
Image

Some street art
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Grey Area- Looked at quite a few strains- the OG Kush and OG18 were more stems and sticks than bud, the tender said the taste is good but I wasn’t taking the risk.
Image
1g Corleone Kush E16 – looked and smelt the rest. Was fairly tasteless and bit harsh. Binned my gram spliff.
Image
Image
Image

Utopia –
1g Grand Cru – REALLY nice hash, so fresh with clean flowery taste and clear high. Looking back i should have got 5g :D
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
1g Champagne Haze – I was disappointed with the bag/tub appeal of the Strawberry diesel (bit fresh) and Kushberry (not stand out) as they had been recommended by multiple ACD members. But when I smelt the sweet hazey yummyness I knew it would be a winner, and it was. Really dense crystal packed buds. Sweet hazey flavour just like the smell, put me in a nice haze. Joint best sativa of the trip.
Image
Image

Blue skies
Image

Broodje Bert – after having to get the BLT the second time I came here because it was so good the first time, I went for the burger – which is more like more like spiced meatball and just as good as their BLT. Only downside was an old bearded man took the last slice of their wonderful apple cake.
Image

back to the hotel for a bit

Burger Bar – My mate got a burger, I just got chips. First trip since I found out about BB that I haven’t got a burger. Just wasn't feeling like one.

Hunters – asked to smell the Chem Dawg E13 – the tender put it under my nose for a split second, it didn't smell great and the service was shit so I left.

Green Place
1g Hawwian Kush E14 – Not good, cant remember exactly why. This and the E16 kush from GA were the most expensive and worst bud purchases.
Image
Image
1g Pineapple Haze E12.50 – super bland. No pic
1g Caramello E9 – no pic

Basjoe – Popped in to check the Sour Diesel – didn’t jump out at me, checked the grape ape for the hell of it – no smell at all. NEXT!

Dampkring was overflowing with people so on to

Tweede Kamer
1g Sherazade Sunrise E8.50 (also had sunset for E0.50c cheaper) - after being disappointed with the expensive Riffman products on the last few trips I wanted something cheaper so was happy when i saw my old friend Sherazade on the menu. This hash from this shop is what made me a lover of hashish - the exhale taste was to die for. Asked to see both the rise had a slightly sweeter smell, the set more earthy. The rise looked less pressed. Nice clean tasty smoke, great daytime smoke for the price

Back to the hotel to catch the 200m and the days highlights.

Cheers Pengaldinho, glad you had a good trip and enjoyed some goodies and De Graal's Cream!

On this ocassion: always enjoying your trip reports! Especially since you've got a balanced passion for excellent weed and hashish! So maximum respect for your effort and devotion  ! Armed with a pocket microscope myself on trips, too  !

Personally noticed a decrease in quality regarding weed during my last two visits(may, july)in Amsterdam(not often in town though, 'prefer' the provinces but this is becoming more diffcult since the upcoming Wietpas). No real standouts. Especially when it comes to the look of the weed of so called 'high grade' at the end of the price range(really poor looking like semi-professional homegrown and often seems to be pollinated before)on the other hand I'm a bit spoilt as I'm lucky enough to have access to far better stuff at home. It seems good days are gone more or less, if memory serves me right you wrote something similar elsewhere. In general it's good though if that makes any sense.
Hashwise there is much better product around if often too pricey.

Whatever, keep it coming and thanks again!

Also a Diesel fan here. Hunters used to have some decent NYCD but that was many moons ago.

hey peng your report rock as always! And we have sort of tradition, we smoke the same hash when in amsterdam. My favourite last trip (1st week of august) was the Gran Cru from Utopia. did you try gardela and zerozero from 1e Hulp? that were too sooooo nice! Thanks for sharing!
