Hello, First Trip to Amsterdam Sep 13-18, Solo

It was suggested that I introduce myself as a new member, so here I am. My name is Ted and I am from Kissimmee, Fl. I will be heading to Amsterdam Sep 13-18 on a solo trip. I was worried about this new legislation threatening to ban tourists from Coffee Shops, and even if it doesn't go through or get enforced, it seemed like a damn good excuse to make the trip.
*edit: removed questions that I posted on the Travel Plans forum

OK... first of all welcome!
There's a lot of good general info here if you look for it, but some of your questions aren't too hard to answer so I'll try. As with anything, doing your homework will save you money and headaches later.
Some places do have sidewalk seating. When they do, it's alright to smoke there.
You'll be very centrally located, so you'll have no trouble finding good spots. I'd recommend trying Voyagers, Grey Area and Greenplace at least.
Avoid the following:
- places that look like shitholes
- places where they force you to buy both weed and drinks (either one should count as consumption in my opinion)
- places where they make you get a 2 gram minimum
- Bulldog/Grasshopper (expensive, corporate and shitty plus enacting many of the aforementioned asshole-y policies)
And as for strains, you'll have a chance to try out indicas and sativas (and everything in between) and see what you like... ideally, start out with the more energetic sativas in the morning and then work toward the more relaxing indicas. If you smoke a huge sativa joint at night you might not be able to fall asleep!
Recommendations are kinda hard 'cause everyone's gonna have an entirely different opinion but I'd recommend trying a few Hazes if you're into Sativas. Kush is really popular in 'Dam right now as well, and it's everywhere (and pretty damn good too). Hash is also gonna be new to you, so there's all of that too lol
Ask for the budtenders' recommendations for what's good right then in indicas, sativas or whatever, or traits that interest you (sweet/funky/flowery smell, active/soothing effect, etc).
Last recommendation: buy a cheap (5E or less) grinder and/or cheap little pipe or bong (<10E) so you can discard them when you gotta go back home. You can usually borrow these at the CSs but it's nice to have your own gear. Every CS has papers and tips (roaches), you can get a few for free or buy a pack of either which TBJ is not really necessary.

Ah, the last thing I forgot... FlyByNite will probably add you to this page anyway:
http://www.coffeeshopmenus.org/0-WhosIn ... InTown.htm
You can see which days have a TnT (toke n talk) set up, or you can boldly announce your own (time and place, punctuality optional) and have it added to the list.
Good luck!

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.
Or post one of your own. All I need is a date, time, and coffeeshop to post it.
By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.
You can do a little practice shopping on the
Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.
First timers get my S G Collins recommendation
I think a read of this will maximize your efficiency once you get there.
How not to get hit by a bike and other stuff they forgot to tell you about Amsterdam.
Enjoy

Yeah, sorry about that. I saw the Travel Plans Forum after I had already posted this and thought that might be a more appropriate place for my post.
Thank you for the information. I'll pick up a grinder and a small pipe. That seems like a good recommendation, especially since I plan to take some back to use at the pad at the end of the day.
