2 day Trip to 'Dam with the Mrs..

Hows it going people, been a while since ive been on the forum. Spent the last couple nights having a good read, glad to see the board is still ticking over nicely.

Tuesday coming will be my 10th trip to 'dam, but my first with my girlfriend, and her 2nd. She doesn't smoke, although willing to try a bit while we're out there. Last time she was there she had a bit too much brownie and ended up tripping and feeling like death apparently lol.

Although she knows fully well what my intentions are while in the glorious 'dam, im after ideas of other things we can do to keep her interested, especially if it allows me to smoke at the same time. In my 9 previous trips i've not really done much except coffeeshops, as none of the gang was up for it . This time i'll be hitting up a view museums, although not sure what ones yet. Im also thinking about a canal trip, any previous experiences? can i smoke?...also if the weather is good it might be my first time renting a bike also, was thinking of taking her down to vondel park.

If anyone can offer suggestions it will be much appreciated . My Mrs has no problem with me and smoking so i'll still be hitting up the coffeeshops but i wouldnt want to bore her as i can imagine a coffeeshop is only so much fun if your not smoking. So any coffeeshops which have a little bit more going on? only one i can think of is Prix D'ami due to the pool tables..

But again any suggestion are much appreciated.

Well first of all,,,,doesn't smoke,, WTF? Second...you can enjoy a snack and then a smoke in the park......Rembrandt museum and Ann frank are great,,,,,,enjoy a movie at the cinemas .i think it's called the tovchevski or something like that... Awesome place to be stoned and see a movie...deco spa can be pretty cool..very European ..check out the website, google it....but honestly if you don't get high your missing out on the true Amsterdam....

Loads of things to do, it's a capital city - my mrs doesn't smoke and she loves amsterdam, she's been almost as much as me - think she's up to 15 trips. Depends what she's into. Modern art museum (stedelijk (sp?)) is just about to reopen, always used to be a good way to spend an afternoon. Bike's are great -go for it. Trip to Haarlem, canal pedal boat thing etc, etc

if all you do in Amsterdam is get high then you're truly missing out

My suggestion would be a wander around the '9 streets' area of Amsterdam. A lovely place full of Antique shops of every description as well as cafes and bars with terraces on the canal/street. Although I'm not specifically aware of coffeeshops per se within the 9 street area there are bound to be some nearby.

Also the Horticultural gardens are really worth a visit. Both romantic and interesting things to do with a significant other.

nope she doesn't, when she tries it she coughs like crazy and then just doesnt enjoy it, she'll give it a go but she wont force it.

Yeah she loved Amsterdam when she went before, shes an architect so obviously Amsterdam intrigues her, being the beautiful city it is.

Check out the VanGogh on weekends/friday night if you are a fan, when we were there in April they had booz and a DJ friday nite at VanGogh.
......Just don't eat to many "Sky High Bon Bons" from Willie Wortels in Harleem before you go or you may find yourself waiting for the elevator because you can't manage the stairs.

Already suggested this to her, she's looking forward to trying it. The main problem is she doesn't smoke cigarettes either, and i smoke spliffs at home with baccy in, so when she tries it, she's being hit by the baccy and paper, can understand the coughing. I think she'll like the vaporizer.

Well if she is an architect - get bikes!

Pedal out on Prinsengracht past haarlemerstraat in to the new section. She will love it! Guaranteed ( and you can toke up as needed)

Then go and explore Java and KNSM. great, innovative architecture, absolute eye candy - for those that appreciate such things.

Didn't say anything about just getting high,,but getting high makes everything in the city feel more magical and more vibrant....makes the art come alive so to speak........but if you go the Amsterdam and don't get high your missing out plain and simple
