Hello from Germany / stoner activities

Post by doctordude »

Hi everybody and greetings from Dortmund, Germany!
I'm new to the forum but a longtime user / contributor on ACD. I used to visit Venlo quite frequently, since it's just 1.5h and 5€ by train. But with this Wietpas business going on in Limburg province and the quality of black-market weed in Germany ("german hedge"!) I now have to take day-trips by bus to A'dam. So this forum is more useful now and here I am :)

Also a question: besides smoking high quality weed and coffeeshop-hopping, can you recommend some "stoned" activities? I have ~7 hours when I go by bus (11-18h) and I'm looking for nice things to do while there & high. So far on my list are the Hortus Botanicus (Butterflies!) and the Bols museum (pretty colours and sugary drinks). What else would you recommend?

Thanks in advance!

This is about all you need... http://www.iamsterdam.com/
... or maybe a few more euros to Utrecht?

I was going to take the piss, but decided against. Nah, fuck it...
I live in Germany, have a Bahn Card, have ridden and driven to Venlo and Amsterdam from Heidelberg and elsewhere, and your numbers just don't make any sense.
Also, €5? When I see it, I'll believe it. Cost more to ride the S-Bahn 25kms.
Next...

"Welcome to my web" said the spider to the fly.

Yup, good for people going one-way from Aachen to Maastricht, well not really. Here's what you didn't mention...
...two layovers 16min each, an actual travel time of 60min. Taking the bus has one less layover, with an actual travel time 3min faster, and probably cheaper.

I've driven between the two cities and it takes about 20min to drive the 39km/24mi. The cost is about 3€ based on 6L/100km, about two liters of fuel one way.
If I had used a scooter, it's about an hours ride through the beautiful country side, and the fuel cost would've been less than 1€.

If you are in the mood to roll your eyes some more, why not show everyone how you and the OP can ride a train 1.5hrs (actual travel time, no layovers  ) for 5€ from Germany to Venlo?
As an added bonus, maybe you can also explain how it's better than the alternatives which probably cost less and are quicker?
Extra bonus, a really good one at that...
If X is a specific point in Germany and the travel time by train to Venlo is 1,5hrs (hint: costing 5€ ), and...
... from the same location, the travel time by bus to Amsterdam is 7hrs, where is X located?
Added nugget - the distance between Venlo and Amsterdam is approximately 150km/90mi, or about 2hrs by bus.

"How do you like my web", Charlotte asked the fly?
Happy trails...

ps - just taking the piss, nothing else...

WTF is going on here?
Uncle Ron wrote:If you are in the mood to roll your eyes some more, why not show everyone how you and the OP can ride a train 1.5hrs for 5€ from Germany to Venlo?
OP here. I live in Bochum, NRW and don't have to use German Rail (Die Bahn). I use, and already have a monthly ticket for, our regional traffic network (VRR = Vehrkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr) which brings me to Kaldenkirchen at the Dutch boarder free of charge. For the 1 stop Kaldenkirchen-Venlo, I need an additional Ticket (Zusatzticket) for each way at a cost of 2.60€ (price list VRR). And even you probably know that 2 x 2.60@ = 5.20€. That's for the price...
Now to the time it takes. If I go on a workday right after work, it looks like this: Departure "Bochum Hbf" @ 17:33h, Arrival "Venlo, Station" @ 18:56h, total travel time 1:23h, 1 Transfer in Viersen, Layover 6 minutes already included. You need to see to believe? Travel planning VRR is here. Anyway: QED

It's better because I like to spend time at the shop, smoke weed there, talk to people. If I go by car I either need a DedicatedDriver, which is hard to come by or I have to drive under the influence of some very potent wiet, which in my book is a definitive no-go. Also, I don't need a car where I live and therefore don't own one. Again: QED

Obviously in a forum with some very annoying members :x If you read my post again, it says "I have ~7 hours when I go by bus (11-18h)" which means (and I thought quite clearly) that I have 7h of time to spend in Amsterdam, no mention of travel time there...

Dude, seriously, what's your problem? From reading this forum, I got the impression that it's usually more civilized...

The go to the "Legalisation and Campaigning" section and rant about the Wietpas, that's what I did ;)

I just don't like being called a liar. And I'm 40 now and have done this Venlo-journey since college times or for nearly 20 years now. So if somebody goes "That's not possible, your talking shit" I cannot help but reply in kind...
I also like the dutch - when I actually meet some outside of A'dam ;) And one of the reasons is that they, like me, mostly don't like insincerity or bragging. I'm just a bit sensible in this department...
Anyway, thinking "Just 6 more days" and calming down really fast

Bye!
