Does my head in that mate. People see you as a good worker, an intelligent person. They've known you and worked with for 8 years then their perception of you changes because they find out you smoke weed. Past 8 years count for nothing.
Feel for you mate. Could easily happen to me.

No need to tell about marijuana use in an interview of course, but I would have told my boss in the same situation as OP.Veggie wrote:Well matty ..your right, he should just tell everyone at the job interviews he smokes pot....honesty is the best policy.............

Honesty and retiring at 42 have absolutely nothing to do with the other. Congrats on your Freedom 42, but if you go through life lying you're only hurting yourself in the end.
Substance and morals matter -- sometimes that's all anyone has -- yes, even in the welfare line.

Yes I actually lost my job because I smoke weed. And Uncle Ron there is not anything missing from the story, but
the more I think about it, maybe the manager who said that I should fill out the report, the more I think about how out of all the managers that she was probably my least favorite. Or maybe I just wanna think that right now, I don't know.
And yes ynwa you are exactly fucking right!
You know what really bothers me is that I didn't have to take a drug test to get the job, I only had to take this one
because I stubbed and broke my toe. DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And yes I refused to take the test, but it would have came back positive for MJ and I subsequently would have been fired.
So I lost my job and integrity and it's enough to make me wanna quit even though to say I really enjoy it would be
an understatement.

i retired young myself veggie 33 years old when i stopped working, (injury) but t lie to a potental employer isnt the best start,Veggie wrote:Well matty ..your right, he should just tell everyone at the job interviews he smokes pot....honesty is the best policy.............

i suck he lost his job, but refusing the test is usually means for termination, at least at my old job its was, if he took the test he could fight the results, but it all done now , he lost his job (that sucks)
Re: Lost my job because of Marijauna, WTF?
I agree in a perfect world we could always be upfront...but cannabis is illegal .no one would hire somebody who said they smoke weed..that's just reality.....besides everyone lies to there employer in some way or another..........I know military guys who smoke weed,,, they sign a pledge that they will not do illegal drugs...that lie to there employer, does this make them bad people? Of course not cuz most people who smoke cannabis need to lie about it....just my opinion , you are entitled to your own
P.s. retired at 33...nice

Not anything missing? You didn't mention the manager now did you?Big C wrote:Yes I actually lost my job because I smoke weed. And Uncle Ron there is not anything missing from the story, but

See, more to the story... not that I was suggesting you intentionally omitted information to protect yourself...
...but given the circumstances of having to submit a urine sample because you stubbed your toe, and your work ethic/history/etc., there had to be more.
What was the outcome for refusal? You were fired...Big C wrote:And yes I refused to take the test, but it would have came back positive for MJ and I subsequently would have been fired.
As I said earlier, you could have taken a chance with the test, at least you could have had some chance that they weren't testing for THC, or you could fight dismissal based on (fill in the blank).
Unfortunately at your expense this is an experience to learn from.
1. Know your employers drug policy.
2. Never refuse a drug test unless you want to be unemployed immediately.
3. If notified of a positive result, don't admit to anything, contact a lawyer and go from there. It could very well be a false positive based on a type of medication/herbal substance (no pun intended)/ etc..., that you had been taking. This does happen quite often, but most of the time the testing system identifies the result as a false positive and the sample is destroyed.
This above all else is the hard lesson to be learned for the masses - if you can't do the time, don't do the crime.Big C wrote:So I lost my job and integrity and it's enough to make me wanna quit even though to say I really enjoy it would be an understatement.
Better times ahead Big C, keep yer eyes open...
Happy trails...

Hey Big C were you going to claim compensation for the broken toe?
I don't take drugs, I am Drugs.

Usually, in times like this (between jobs and/or needed to get my thoughts together) - I find that a solo trip to the dam is most helpful
(and for now I guess all your days are free..)
