I found it interesting,however, that he sympathized with the dutch with regard to their feeling of embarrassment regarding their reputation because of weed and sex..if I were a dutchman and somebody bought into the stereotype I would be inclined to explain to the uneducated person who said that about the disproportionately high gnp..number 1 on UNICEF child welfare rankings..low drug use..etc..

System that has been very successful to go back to a street dealers bonanza. As for your implication that Americans ate the biggest loudest Assholes I'm Amsterdam..I would say it is the drunks in general that cause the disturbances.

Side note .. I am actually pretty timid and respectful of the dutch locals..I don't usually smoke in the street .however,two years ago I was with the unofficial mayor of the coffeeshop walking thru the Dec storm..he was smoking a joint..I asked if that was cool. He waved me off like who gives a shit or I was being a prude...he is dutch..born and raised

In my experience, the Irish, Scot, English, Canadian, French, Italian and vacationing Dutch make equal asses and annoyances of themselves in Amsterdam.

I think people label "ugly Americans" because it is easy to pile on, but they aren't the only guilty parties.

There's over 300 million Americans, so by ratio they'll likely outnumber visitors from other countries.
