Departing five weeks from tomorrow......
Mrs. Lafe's birthday occurs during the trip so this should be fun. We'll probably spend the afternoon we arrive at the Tea House in Vondelpark, then decide what to do the rest of the jet lagged evening.
Aside from the usual stops, we'll be hitting some places outside Centrum and making a Saturday trip to Haarlem and Bevervijk for the Black Market. My mate who is going with us will be hitting the music stores for rare vinyl, so that should be fun.
I'll do my best to post an ongoing travelogue as it occurs. My goal is to do half the job J-Bomb does.... :-)
I wish I had an internet enabled PDA that works in Europe. That would be the ultimate solution. I suppose I must revert to pen and paper.
Oh well :-)
Five weeks and counting
re: vinyl
I spotted two shops in Haarlem last visit but they were both closed, as I was there on a Monday morning. Each had reggae vinyl that looked, well, desirable.
There is another shop very near Spui, and my favorite brewpub Cafe Gollem, that had a yellow copy of "Bollocks" by the Sex Pistols, but with a Russian cover for 20 Euro. They also had some FZ stuff I have never seen.
The biggest shop in Dam AFAIK is Concerto on Utrechtstraat. I have been in there and they have a nice selection of music, but I didn't spy any rare vinyl although the shop is so big I may have missed it.
Whatever I discover I will report faithfully :-)

Yes, it really sucks and is the greatest feeling, simultaneously.Man I know what I was like earlier this year when I was down to 5 weeks.
"Quivering with anticipation" is an apt description. "Sweet Agony" would work as well.
I cannot imagine what it would be like to be in the UK with a job I like that pays enough to be able to spend a weekend per month in AMS. Lucky bastards :-)
Thanks to everyone, I will post as much as possible.
