Re: An awesome surprise & belated trip report (Dec 2011!)

Sunday
Our last full day in Amsterdam, and a day for truffles! Again I woke up earlier than J, had a joint while I waited for him to wake up and when he didn't I got dressed and told him I was going out to get us breakfast. I went to a bagel shop which had about 20 types of bagel, before toppings. Very tasty bagels! I bought a couple of bagels and two coffees and juggled them back upstairs to the apartment.
With caffeine (and another joint) in our system we looked at how much weed we had left from last night and decided we probably wanted a bit more before we embarked on truffles, so we walked west to Katsu, where we bought two of their E20 deals - Black widow and Big Budda Cheese.
Black Widow

Big Budda Cheese

It was a bit quieter (I think maybe the market wasn't on?) so we sat and had a coffee while we smoked a joint of each of the strains we'd bought. I remember the black widow not being as awesome as the first time around, and also being dissapointed there was no So Gouda
Afterwards we walked around to Club Media for some more Champagne haze, bought a gram of that along with a gram of lemon skunk.

Lemon Skunk
We had a drink and a smoke of the lemon skunk (saving the C Haze for later!) in media, for as long as we thought it took for our breakfast to digest and our stomachs to be empty. Walked back to our apartment, kicked off our shoes and cracked open the truffles.

My memory of this experience is sort of hazy, they weren't as giggly as other ones I'd tried - on a previous truffle trip we laughed solid for 2 hours, literally couldn't move or open our eyes, all I could say was "this is ridiculous", and the feeling of the word "ridiculous" coming out of my mouth would set me off again
. The packet says high visuals and there were some visuals, colours changing and perspective being fucked up. I remember the shadows being brilliant - the ones of the lamp on the roof were fighting/ chasing each other, but one wasn't moving, and I was determined it would move if I stared at it hard enough. We smoked the champagne haze and the rest of the exodus cream cheese and I can't remember what else. I was upset that I forgot to buy fresh fruit after having so much fun eating it the last time on mushrooms. Oranges or berries are great!
We had brought some CDs from home and there was a DVD player so we had our own choice of music, so we just sat around and smoked and played music, laughing and staring and thinking and talking about weird stuff
It was actually really nice as the mushrooms were wearing off, we had some chilled music in the background and I'd just had a shower and changed so felt really refreshed and airy - shower felt brilliant, was really zoned in it lol - and was walking around with what felt like really light feet, sat and made a joint looking out the window at everyone just going home from work, coming off the trams and going about in their bikes, with the sun going down (my favourite time of day) and feeling super happy and lightheaded and in love with this city
Just a little bit of longing to have the same culture at home!
After we were both ready and feeling ready to face the world, we took a walk down the more pedestrian streets through de Pijp, towards Saraphatipark, with the aim of getting to Leidseplein and experiencing some mighty poffertjes!

Finally we were there, we took a seat inside the red tent at the window.

I ordered poffertjes with chocolate and whipped cream, J got berries and cream.

We just about finished them, they were so tasty we wanted to just keep eating. Our stomach was saying no but our brain saying yes yes yes!
We needed to walk off the poffertjes, so we took a walk along the prinsengracht and up to rembrandt square. We planned on going into a CS to have a joint, but the few places we did see were packed. One place, Old Amsterdam, had a few empty tables, so we went inside, but as we went to the bar, the old guy behind the counter just pointed to a sign behind the bar that said "Minimum order E15 per table". I was thinking, it's my last night and I already have weed on me that I want to smoke so fuck that shit. We just wanted to buy a coffee and a coke each and sit and have a smoke. So we left.
We walked around but everywhere else was full. Were just about to walk into the Rokerij but a group of about 10 dudes walked in in front of us and sat down on all the empty seats. Sigh. Then we spotted burger bar!

We ordered up a couple of Kobe burgers and munched on. Still feeling a bit spaced and uncomfortable around so many people, and unlikely to find a seat in a CS anywhere, we jumped on a tram back home and worked on smoking up the rest of our stash while watching some DVDs.
Sunday
Woke up and had to pack everything up and have a tidy of the apartment. Had a joint and some breakfast first. Luckily the place had a dishwasher so not much work involved. Our flight was at ~3pm, and we had to check out of the apartment at 1. Woke J up at 11 to pack his stuff and gave him breakfast. Double checked we packed everything and got a tram back into centrum. We got off at dam square and walked around to De Kuil for a goodbye smoke. Another tradition. Bought a G of 420 haze and made a joint each, and sat with a couple of coffees and cokes until we had to leave for the train. We ground up the rest of the 420 haze and little bits we had left and made another joint each for the airport, for after check-in.

We walked up to Centraal, got on the train, and sat in silence looking out the window as we said our mental farewells to the great city
. At Schipol we checked our bags in and went back downstairs for a Burger King. Then outside for our last joint of the trip. We always sit at the same bit, near the oliebollen stand. Then onto the plane and back to reality
Apologies that my memories of the last few days of the trip are a bit hazy, the truffles probably had something to do with that. Writing this has really got me looking forward to my trip. Just over 3 weeks from now
So hopefully I will have a more up-to-date and comprehensive report available for you in the next month or so!
