Maastricht had to add 14 people to the police force, that would mean ~100 new cops for A'dam. Or ~70 for Rotterdam, maybe a bit fewer, since R'dam is not so touristy. But nevertheless, this would mean huge additional costs for the cities...
And on the other hand, estimates suggest that the revenue of coffeeshops would be reduced to around 20% of pre-Wietpas levels on average. The tourists are lost completely and the dutch are reluctant to register. For locations hugely dependent on tourists (e.g. Venlo) the numbers are even worse, more like 95-100% of revenue lost (2 there shops are closed already). And given that the coffeeshop business pays roughly
400 million per year in income taxes, this means a loss of 320 million Euros per year for the state. A state facing a European financial crisis, a domestic mortgage crisis and cuts in the social security net. I just don't get politicians

Mayor Gilissen;
"Together with the region we Hague sounding the alarm. The trade has the tolerated coffee shops to the street moved. The number of reports of harassment has soared! God knows where the young drug runners will soon arrive. We want to avoid at all costs. The 24 additional officers that he has gained have their hands full with the new situation. "
