I'm going back to Amsterdam next month and was wondering if mushrooms are still legal? Also I have never taken any before what type would you recommend and I'm also only in Amsterdam for the day so should i eat them before i get on the ferry back?

yes, but available. Regardless, why stuff a serious trip into a one-day visit? freaking out on a ferry does not sound fun.

Shrooms are illegal, but available in some smart shops. Truffles, a slightly weaker version of shrooms, are still legal.

But I am totally serious, I think it is a serious mistake to take them on a one day visit where you won't spend the night even. You will be charged up, stoned, tired, etc and shrooms are a SERIOuS drug, which requires the right place, setting and time to enjoy them.

Imagine freaking out on the ferry and falling into the channel! Some shops will ship truffles to you, why not check that out.

I agree with Marco - mushrooms/truffles are a full-on experience, and even in a lower dose should be treated with caution and care. Both for the sake of your own safety and out of respect for the mushrooms themselves. Either try and wait until you can come back to Amst with time and space to enjoy, or maybe consider having them shipped.

I'd say you should dedicate 12-24 hours to a trip on shrooms, truffles. Otherwise you're rushing it and you'll kill the buzz.

Buy some food, choose a place where you can occupy your mind for a long period, chill out and enjoy yourself. I hate doing them out in public or on transport...although I've never tried either, but I just couldn't imagine having a good time.

This. Trips on public transport are hell on earth. Two of the worst times of my life included hallucinogens and trains/buses.

I can't believe some of the opinions in this topic. A shroom trip lasts about 5 hours so why you would need to dedicate 24 hours I don't know, theres also very little comedown if not an afterglow.

I was eating 100+ liberty caps when I was 13 as they grew in a field next to my house and when I;ve tripped in the Dam its always been great fun, the copelandia are the only shrooms that compare to liberty caps in intensity of trip. Cubensis are mellow in comparison.

They also work wonders for curing my depression for up to 3 weeks.

It's different for every person though. I would have a whole punnet of the weaker truffles and I'd have a 12-hour trip easily. You might not be completely mindfucked the whole time but there was definitely an affect there for a good half day.

I've seen people trip for days on potent stuff. It's possible. Ever been to Thailand? The shrooms moving around during a full moon party literally send people crazy. Literally.

I wouldnt eat any mushrooms or truffles unless you have a safe place to go and chill out if needed. Some people do not react well on shrooms in public. Plus your pupils are going to be gigantic and anyone who see them is going to know somethings up.

Mushrooms are very unpredictable. I've had trips where the only effect was a warm happy feeling and I've had trips (on the same type and amount) where I've hallucinated my balls off and danced through a woods.
But the best advice is what everyone has been saying: Be somewhere you feel comfortable, you do NOT want to be in a strange place if you have a bad trip.

if original poster has yet to travel to the dam- Mushrooms are not a party drug but if you treat them with respect you can experience things beyond words. Amsterdam is a great place, but tripping can be confusing and at home with friends would be a better place for a first experience. Rather than a strangle land you have never been to before. Up to you but iv tripped over 100 times and even NASA cant work out how many times iv been to the dam. All i know is next trip is march.
