Classic Device

Post by woodz60 »

I was also digging through an old box of curio and found this item. Any of you youngsters wanna guess how this works?

If my vague memory serves me, this used to be a fun way to fly, although stale contents in the chamber could cause massive coughing fits.

Cheers!

Is the device made out of squeezable plastic?
Put a lit joint in one end of the removable top, screw in place, put finger on side hole, squeeze and inhale. When done, release finger from hole to refill container with air. Repeat...
Yes? No?

Looks similar to my red plastic Power Hitter, circa late 70's. Had a few good times with mine. Works best with more than three people.

I was trying to find the thread 'ACD Official Tools of the Trade,' but am having much trouble. Expensive/extensive collections of glassware make me oh so jealous

You talk all science-like and stuff, Uncle Ron. Yes, indeed, it operated just like that. My question was directed at the young' uns what might not have been around way back when... :D

Nimrod and BongLord- It one of the very view items that I (somehow) retained from yesteryear. Remember the frisbee pipe? Also, the 3' tall, 6-8 chamber U.S. Bong? I had me one of each of those and lots of other gadgets I can scarcely recall.

Joshua, This item went into a box probably 28-30 years ago. It could be shared amongst multiple people as a way to conceal a burning joint. The technology has advanced quite a bit since then, but, if you show the picture to an older smoker or ask about a 'power hitter,' they might know what you're talking about. Good luck finding one in the 'dam.

If one isn't available at a head shop, have a look at antique shops as well. Ya never know...
For those interested in the experience...
I find it best when using a 2 liter plastic bottle
First, I make a hole about the diameter of a joint, in the center of the bottle cap. Next, I make a similarly sized hole somewhere on the bottle, I find the middle is always nice.
I then roll a cone joint (ok, I buy pre-made cones  ) and push the filter end through the hole from the inside of the cap, snug fit.
I light the joint, then screw the cap into the bottle. I place my finger over hole, squeeze the bottle slowly and gently, and inhale the smoke.
When I've had enough, I stop squeezing and release my finger from hole.
The bottle will return to it's original shape, but be careful not to let it pop back in place, it could get messy on the inside.
Either pass it on, or wait a moment but not too long, then take another hit.
This is a fancy way of giving/receiving what we used to call a shotgun hit.
Some people put lit joints in their mouths and gently blow out... only when the other party is a female, thank you very much...

"Blowbacks" haven't heard that mentioned for years
Remember watching someone do this, despite being advised it was a bad move, as most people were baked enough already. Poor fella ended up with lump of red hot hash fall on his tongue for his troubles ... Needless to say, he got no sympathy from the stoned audience, who sat laughing for ages afterwards :D
