@Boras - the Hestia Cup is ACD's highly subjective version of a coffeeshop competition, although most shops aren't even aware of it. All my opinion.
The final numbers were something like 211/209/193, so it appears that the top three voted-on shops could have finished in any order.
It's nice to have hardware of any type, and Trad brings some 8) custom cups to support the event.

I agree 1e hulp would have got second , but I would not have scored utopia as I didn't buy any goods from there so couldn't say what it was like , so yeah voyagers would have been 1st and 1e hulp in 2nd if I had voted but sorry guys I didn't :(

Today was the day I should have seen a doctor, but that didn't happen. Probably hoping, incorrectly, that I was going to improve. Sinus areas swelling, and moving upward. Looks worse than it feels, but I fucked up not getting an Rx today.

Ended up checking out the Waterlooplein flea markt after a strange tram ride that took me nowhere near there, like it should have. Ended up getting off the tram at Oosteinde and strolling east bank Amstel, seeing odd sights like enormous, building-grasping vegetation, and a wooden bicycle. There was also a small boat of orange-clad revelers, celebrating a full week early. At least they had plenty of room to maneuver.

Waterlooplein's markt, as feculent as ever. :P
Managed to find a few rusty, cow-print Clipper lighters. :)
That's it.
Used to get some neat Thai tie-dyed tees from one of the markt stalls, but they're just selling off the old, weathered crap they have, and don't seem to be re-stocking anything.

Hitting all the AHs for my bonus cards, I make my way toward Voyagers, most likely.
Where else would I go when around Nieuwmarkt?

Not sure what happened with V'gers, but it's certain that I ended up at 't Nes for a cocktail, to roll a smoke, surf ACD, and to look up some apotheeks on the 'net.

Saw yet again, what I assume to be some of the locals who frequent 't Nes, Balou often included. There's alaskabrandon, who joined the forum just after 4-20 time, the tallish chap with the beard and cowboy hat, who resembles a younger version of a friend from home, and some others.
Balou, aka Mister Delicious  around Nes straat, is another beardo.
Nice to have finally met you, dude. :)
I believe AzLaker and Rob_OG and his better half were at 't Nes, or perhaps I'm confusing this evening with the next, my last in town. No matter... they were there at some point in time. :P I've forgotten who else may have been at 't Nes that evening. Apologies.

Gear-wise, I did get some of both the Wappa and the Gaffa. They sound like illnesses to me
Yeah, they were OK, but I was fond of the Citral, my favorite smoke of the trip. It was nice to see it kept in good stock, and THANKS to the FINE AGENTS at Utopia, I had opportunities to select some appealing buds.
Thanks, Utopia! :D

Last day.
A lovely, and I mean LOVELY day in Mokum.

Woke up early (for me) to get to the apotheek by 8:30. Tried one on Leidsstraat, but that didn't seem to be open at the appointed time. Went on to another on Bilderdijkstraat, the one I should have visited in the first place.

Waited in line and was finally accepted for questioning. Referred to a tourist/expat doctor in the Jordaan, and I was on my way. The gal who took my questions seemed to not believe that I could find the place on my own.
Knew exactly how to get there.
Tram 17, steps away from the apotheek, to Westermarkt, then to nearby Bloemgracht.

A glorious morning along Bloemgracht. 8)

As a walk-in, I really wasn't expecting much, thinking I might be told to come back later in the day. :| After first being asked to return in an hour, I was told that something could happen soon, and to have a seat and wait. Someone must have pulled a no-show, much to my benefit.
About fifteen minutes of sitting in the sunshine later, mine name is called and I'm happy to see a honey of an medical assistant for a quick exam and consult. She's petite, exotic, lovely, and she gives me what I came for. :D Fifty-two euro later, I'm walking out with my Rx, and snapping Bloemgracht photos like a tourist. I've always liked female doctors. No foolin'.

A quick stop at the local Witte Kruis (White Cross) apotheek, and €20+ later, I'm headed back to H1, walking down sunny Hazenstraat, which is a nearly direct route there.
Didn't have to visit the apotheek they referred me to, but I knew where it was, it was kinda on the way, and luckily not very busy when I walked in. However, it sure got busy after my initial counter time. Kinda like being on the good end of those scenarios.
Started the antibiotics and had a bite to eat at the apartment before getting back out into the righteous NL zonshinen.

Wherever my day took me, it was no accident that I always managed to stay on the sunny side of the straat. Not a whole lot of sitting in coffeeshops today, not when it's like THIS outdoors.

Thought I had an idea of where I went and what I did, but not so much. Even after consulting receipts, photos, and other sources, fook me if I can get a clear picture of the afternoon hours.
Better notes (ANY notes) would make for a much less-crappy travelogue.
And photos.
Everyone likes photos. :P

More reporting to come, from the Atacama toast buffet. :P
Betcha can't wait.

24 Apr cont.
At some point, I made the tourist stroll up Prinsengracht, undoing buttons and shedding clothes until hitting the base t-shirt layer. Hoofed through the Asokaplein, to the Haarlemmerbuurt, where I'm up and down the zonny side, natuurlijk.
Made a quick stop at de Mof to see what kinds of boerenzakdoeken they had. Nothing for me, so on toward the centrum. Skylarked around Nieuwendijk a bit, then down NZV, looking in and giving Ingi a wave as I passed Utopia. I figured to return later, so...onward, across the Dam and down Rokin.
Stopped at Studio Bazaar, tucked away on Reguliersdwarsstraat, near Vijzelstraat. It's by the Munt end of the Famous Fantabulous Foaming Florid Farcical Flaccid Floating Flower Markt :P to see if they still had any of the good, German nylon shopping bags.
They DO  and some new ones, too. :) This place has all kinds of neat supplies and gadgets for the keuken.

It's nearly four hours between known receipt times, and I'm not easily recalling where those hours went.
Did I stop at de Graal for a mind-eraser joint or two :?:

Ended up back on the AC markt, where I purchase more textiles. After leaving Zeeman, I'm in the middle shopping lane (as opposed to the much faster storefront sidewalks) and encounter a familiar face walking his bike through the markt. It's ACD member lctricity, back in town for the annual Hip Forums Piggy American Queensday cruise and bash. 8)
We first met in 2007, and I usually see him if I'm around in late April. We chat in the low, late day sunshine, and I mention having some farewell drinks at 't Nes later on, around 10pm. We part, and I'm off to make some more purchases - supplies from Jan, and more boerenzakdoeken from De Boerenbonthal, conveniently right across 'de cuyp' from Jan. Bought some two days earlier, red with black polka dots, and have returned to get a few more. Laden with textiles, it's a long wait for a tram 3 or 12 back to the apartment to unload and have something to eat.
Weird-ass tramage saw two tram 25s come through the 3/12 route :?: during the long pause between normal traffic.

After dinner, the empty beverage bottles were gathered and returned to AH Elandsgracht, from whence they came. Combined statie fles adds up to something like €3. :)
This is normally done the morning of departure, so this trying-to-stay-ahead-of-the-game move turns out to be a good

More hours lost, but it's generally thought that most of my remaining time is spent between Utopia and 't Nes.
At 't Nes, I inform UR of tomorrow's 8am clearance time. Still a few members around, with Trad and Big guy having a final night about as well.
Just before 9pm, I'm ready to walk over to Utopia, and Gapie joins me. A quick stop at Dam Square Souvenirs for a klompje, and it's the final smoke at Utopia. It's nice that Jessica's working, as I get to thank her for the cherry coke that left for me in the shop fridge. :D Now THAT'S service, when the staff PERSONALLY caters to your taste. Hell, I was certainly impressed :!: All from a conversation had last October. I've found a personableness at Utopia, that I think some others have as well. It's 8)
Got some nice photos in the shop, especially the inside-out window shot that's wallpaper on my mobile, and shots of the tubs and newly-acquired hardware.
Gapie thinks he's going to drag me to Voyagers on his way home, but that doesn't happen. No plans to do that. The plan for me, is back to 't Nes for more drinks and to smoke down the rest of my holdings. It's a lot closer than Voyagers.
I somehow  acquire a previous version of the Utopia menu sheets as a parting gift. Dank u wel!

Back at 't Nes, it turns into somewhat of a Pig roast, as yogibear is there, and lctricity shows up around 11pm. Wow, things are fuzzy after that. Pretty sure that there was a stop at Leidsestraat McRat for another round of fish fillet and fries for take-away, returning home to begin smoking und packing. Ugh.

@geekymonkey - Thanks for all your kind words. Don't be sad, it was time to go.
Probably should have just stayed home, anyway. :P

@hasj - Always good times with you, man. Looking forward to more. As you said... 8)

25Apr
After frantic smoking, cleaning, and packing, finally managed to cram it all in and zip it shut. 8)

Stashed some hash and the glass for toker31, who was expected to occupy H1 in about ten days.

Goodbyes to Ron. Thanks for sharing and the for good times we had. :)
Good riddance to  and Zippy.  :| :P

Customary pause on the bridge over Looiersgracht to begin my farewell burn, which finished alongside the parked bus. Bus driver asked what I was smoking, and thought I was kinda hardcore for burning a snaked joint so early. WTF else am I supposed to do?!? This is all I know.  Got on the 8:30 bus to Schiphol.

Arrived to check in and encountered the line from hell, stretching all the way across the concourse. Fook me and a half. Multiple flights out of that line, and it's just ridiculous.
Then I remembered that I received a check-in e-mail from United the previous day. Not sure how I was automatically checked in, as that's never happened before. Talked with a United line jockey, and verified that this precludes me from waiting in that horrific queue, AND IT DOES. :D
Fuck all of that, and I'm on to passport control.
I head directly for the gate, as I'm normally one of the stragglers. Not this time, as I'm one of the first. WTH?
Didn't matter that my e-boarding pass had an unscannable barcode, they still allowed me to board. What a system.

Crashed pretty hard on the flight home. I sleep little the night before a flight, so...there you have it. Actually ate some of the sad, lousy two-layer lasagna served as the entree. The offerings were either chicken or lasagna. I don't know about you, but I've never heard of chicken lasagna, but this dingbat next to me thought otherwise. Big mix-up there. At least she was better than the know-it-all, non-stop blabbermouth sitting on the other side of her. Good gawd, he's one of these people who just cannot or will not shut up. HER problem. Good thing I'm zonking in and out, mostly out, of consciousness. Fucking humans.

Seems like a quick hop back, AND IT IS. Got in an outrageous hour-something early. How the hell does THAT happen?!? Thanked the transatlantic gods, and wrangled a seat on the next plane for Cleveland. Wasn't sure if it would happen, but I think the flight was waiting on some crew, and that helped.
Not checking baggage sure makes my travel life easier. :)
