Green Place

Dr Grinspoon – A great strain of sativa here! Was the last smoke of one evening, and it pretty much finished us off! Great feeling from it. To be honest I felt more ‘stoned’ than ‘high’, regardless, if you go to Green Place, try it out. Had a nice smell to it, looked dank, and ground up well. 9/10

Lemon OG – This smelt absolutely amazing. Best smelling bud of the trip by a clear mile. Really did smell gorgeous! As for the smoke- very nice and smooth. You can ‘taste the smell’, nice and lemony. As for the effect – Nice calm high. Really great bud that grinds OK too. 9/10*

Blue Cheese – Very sweet and cheesy smell coming from the tub. Smoke matched the smell: sweet and cheesy. Decent high from it. Ground OK. 8/10

Zero Zero – I can’t comment too much on hash... I can say, however: this went great with some Lemon OG - And I got a very in-body stone off it, very good! Could really taste the hash and I only used a small amount and more bud – Smooth on the throat and again could really feel it going down. 9/10

Caramello – I can’t comment too much on hash... I can say, however:. This was pretty strong on the throat but still pretty smooth at the same time, if you get me. Good stone from it. This was recommended by the budtender as I purchased the other hash. I would personally say I liked the Zero Zero better. The Zero was very nice that day, this caramello wasn’t quite as nice, 8/10

OG Firestarter – Another great strain from Green Place. Had this first smoke of the last day at about 9.30am. Hit hard! Nice smell, nice taste, ground up well, smoked perfect. 8/10



1e Hulp

Amnesia – Wow. Bud of the trip. This sativa base ground up into a wonderful golden, fluffy mess. Lovely smell coming from it. Smoke was so smooth and tasty. The effect was a lasting mellow and uplifting high. Get over to 1e Hulp is my recommendation. 10/10



Smoke Palace

Chocolope – Cracking bud this was. Sour-chocolaty taste, and a good smell to match. Ground up nicely, went down nicely! Pretty deep high from it. 9/10

S/5 – Very nice sativa. Taste and effect were nice. I got pretty high from this. Can’t comment on the length of the high as I was smoking like a trooper this trip. The budtender suggested it to me on our 2nd day of going in there. Pretty good 8/10



Hunters

Sensi Star – Decent. Smell was quite unique., a bit fruity. Taste was the same and not too heavy. The effect came on after the smoke, a middle of the road stone but lasted a while. 6.5/10



Voyagers

Super Lemon Bio – Right....Tricky review on this one. Lets start on the positives: Absolutely stunk of lemony-ness! Ground up fine. No seeds at all. Now for for iffy part – This bud was really, really tickly on the throat... To the point where even with some cigarette in the joint, it was still tickling on the throat.....Now I am no expert, so, coupled with the fact that it was a nice smiley high after toking on it, decide for yourself if that’s good, is it? As for me 8/10



Barneys

Pineapple Chunk – Did not write in my little black book so won’t comment.

Tangerine Dream – Did not write in my little black book so won’t comment. (Note: Was my 2nd favourite of our Feb 2011 trip, though, hence we tried it. Pink Kush being the best bud we had last year. Wow. Insane stone, honest. Does anyone know where I would of brought this from Feb 2011? Cuz I can’t remember, it was near to Barney’s/420 way though...)



Bulldog

Candy Kush – This came pre-bagged which immediately put me off. Nothing really to say on this, very standard to me. Look and smell wise, it was quite light in colour, dry, and not much smell coming from it. The effect was alright, just nothing special. Wouldn’t go for it again. 6/10



Utopia

Amnesia – This was the first bud of the trip. A bit disappointing really. The actual effect was alright, a middle of the road pleasant high – Although it did not smell of much, and wasn’t really for grinding. Personally would not have again. 6/10



Amnesia

LSD – Got a decent stone from this. I wouldn’t go for it again, though. Appearance: Dark, dry buds. Not much smell coming from this. Middle of the road. 6/10



Grey Area

El Cid – Did not write in my little black book so won’t comment.



*The Lemon OG, without my sheer bias of it smelling so damn nice, would probably be an 8/10 – I deffo recommend it though if you love a good whiff of the buds as well as the smoke from it.





Green Place 5/5

The strains at this place are top notch. As you can see above, most of our favourite strains came from here. It has a very small outside area facing the canal waters (2 tables and some chairs), and front area with the bar and budtender (nice budtenders too) and a rear area which is really nice to go take your smoke into: a dimly lit room with lots of seats. Location wise it is in RLD, and not too far from Voyagers, and therefore, Centraal Station. I miss this place already!



Smoke Palace 4/5

Right guys, here we go! There turned out to be a local’s coffeeshop right next to our posh hotel! (Our hotel was a 10 min tram ride from Dam Sq, down Damrak and further down.) Now it took us a short while to get in there because I was sceptical as I had not heard of it.... However.... The fact that it is mainly local Dutch fellows going in for their smoke, makes this place a little gem: reduced bud prices as they don’t need to add on tourist prices (a couple euros cheaper), and the bud MUST be good here, because there were tonnes, and I mean tonnes, of Dutch folk coming in and out ALL DAY LONG. It has a load of covered seating out front, then down some stairs into the bar/budtender (who was helpful), then into the back area with lots of seating. We only tried 2 strains here, the Chocolope, which was pretty nice, and the S5 which was a great high. As I have said above, for that many locals to head in there it must be a really good bud store, surely.(P.S the only reason I have personally marked this a 4 and not a 5, is because of the fact that it can be strange when you are stoned and all the people around you are ducth, and speaking dutch.)



1e Hulp 5/5

I’m giving this place a 5/5 for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it is home to our bud-of-the-trip: Amnesia. Secondly the budtender was nice and friendly and offered advice on some strains, and thirdly, the decor and seating in the back room is great! Slightly oriental feel to it, there was even a cat asleep in there. Had a jukebox which I was loading with 2Pac songs. This place was just generally a cracking little spot to get some smoke, and smoke some smoke! Not too far from the back of Dam Palace/Sq. If you’re very lazy, I believe there are a couple of things you could catch down to 1e Hulp.



Utopia 3/5

Didn’t rate this place in total honesty. I only tried 1 strain however, so do not disregard the buds from here just based on my review! My reasons for a low score are that it wasn’t very homely in there, felt a bit cramped and generally didn’t want to stay in there too long, whereas Green Place I could have stayed all day long. The budtender was a Chinese guy, I didn’t ask for any help but he looked reasonably friendly.



Bulldog (The one with the budtender down the awkward stairs) 3/5

Very touristy... Buds were pre-bagged = not good. The one strain I tried wasn’t fantastic. Seating area is “OK” although it backs into a tourist shop on the high street, so a few people kept coming past us and it just wasn’t great. I have been here before though and to be honest with you, I would go back, because it’s not that bad to have a couple of burns and then move on. Has a toilet, I know some people look for this! Struggling now...
