Travel to Marocko

Hi everyone.
Considering a holiday in Marocko, has anybody been there? Grateful for tip on where to go,what to see,where to live dos and dont's,prices and anything else that could be of interest.

Hi Mikael,

I'm not sure exactly where in Morocco you're planning on going. I've only been to Marrakech and it's quite nice. To find out more about sightseeing, nightlife etc. in whichever city you are planning on visiting you'd be better off checking another website, so you can have a look at things which float your boat.

With regards to scoring I suggest you try and get a local from your hotel / villa to "hook you up" to keep any heat off yourself. If you have no luck with that (and you're in Marrakech) get in a taxi and head to Mellah (Mel-aaa-ha). A dodgy little part of town but you'll find the goods here. As soon as you start walking down the smaller side streets you'll get the pungent fragrance of hasj in the air. I got a 1/4 (7g) of nice maroc for approx. £35/€45/$55

I understand there is much better in Agadir and if you are willing to take bigger risks then head up to the villages of the Riff mountains where the Tbisla's, Azila's, Caramello's, Hiya's etc. all lay in wait.

Thank You Delta 9,I take Yor tips at heart,You know what bothers me a bit is stories about sellers who immedeately calls the police and so on(in that case what do You do?Bribe them?.

I also heard about this type of thing happening but I am not so sure it is true. I did not witness anything like this anywhere in Marrakech.

I don't think any dealer would call the police, unless they are themselves the police, or work with them.

In my opinion a genuine dealer would be more worried about themselves, rather than snitching on a tourist but I could be wrong.

I expect if this type of thing does happen, it would happen only in tourist hot spots where there is a police presence e.g. the market square, so just be careful in those sort of public places and don't approach any dealers there.

Anyway, for such reasons it is much better if you can get a local person to source the merchandise for you. For example security at hotel or taxi driver etc. You may just have to pay a little bit extra.

Coffeeshops would make everything so much more simple

The cannabis fields are only to be seen in the Northern part of the country, in the Rif moutain area.Morroco is a pretty wide country!

Okay, then...here is what I wrote on a previous thread (have you searched in the International forum section BTW, there are a few related threads..)

Try to avoid buying frm the street dealers (I think you had figured that yourself though, that stands for any place in the world ).Agadir is a vey touristy spot, and there are good chances you'll be proposed everywhere, every one will have the first quality of course .

There are lots of surfers down there and in Essaouira (bit futher up north), best thing to do is to hook up with some of them (sure you'll find some fellow country men!!).Anyway you will find decent hash at dirt cheap rates compared to AMS standards, no worries about that.Kief (sieved leftovers mixed with homegrown tobacco)is not very pleasant to smoke (harsh and very weak buzz) and harder to come across than hash.

For first quality full melt fudgey goodness, this can only be purchased in the Rif mountains (north) if you have good contacts.It can be found down south but you gotta know the righteous fellas

Have fun, beware of the sun, and don't miss the Gnawi music festival in Essaouira if you're around in June!!

It can be risky, just don't be silly and smoke everywhere.Busting tourists with hash is a national sport, and morrocan jails are frm another time if you see what I mean...
The rif might be the less risky place though.Just don't pull the devil by his tail...this is a truly beautiful place, with excellent food to be enjoyed in the less classy looking establishment, don't be put off by the looks of the restaurants...Enjoy yerself!!

I went to Marrakech a few years ago and it was a great place to visit. On my way from the airport, I spoke a bit of arabic to the taxi driver, and asked about hash. We spoke a bit and he gave me a gram of his stash. My first night was perfect! The next day, I purchased 7 grams but it was mediocre quality. I too was a bit paranoid buying but it worked out well for me. Morocco is one of those places I long to return.
