Washington & Colorado legalize recreational use !
Re: Washington & Colorado legalize recreational use !
I don’t claim to know anything about growing weed other than the basics of how all things that grow from the ground have in common. I do have extensive knowledge in Agronomy as it relates to turf-grass having been a golf course superintendent for many years.
I am not an auto mechanic but know a good car when I see one. One does not need to be an expert on growing weed, to know what good weed is.

If you're using high end nutrients and high end soil it's definitely not cheaper. There is a reason dispensaries advertise organic soil grown, they know it's what the consumer prefers.USBONGLORD wrote:And stanky....you are very wrong....they grow it that way to save money ..it'll never be better..Never.....so far Ron..yer on
Re: Washington & Colorado legalize recreational use !
I for one don't buy into the hype that some nutrient/fertilizer companies advertise about their products, and the same applies to those who sell organic soil mixes as well.
I'm a firm believer that if using high end nutrients and high end soil, the grower is being ripped off - eyes wide open. A grower can (if properly motivated and informed) find better materials at a lower price, which in turn would keep the cost of growing down. Simple economics when given some thought....
A difference of opinion I have with some growers in the hydro world is with companies such as Advanced Nutrients and their "System". I'll put up any of my bud against products like Advanced Nutrients Grand Master Level. The cost of the package exceeds $300 when using a 30 liter reservoir. Not to be overlooked, the amount of nutrients received for that price is only enough for one crop. RIPOFF!
There is a reason why some coffee shops advertise THC% and it has nothing to do with what the consumer wants, it's a marketing ploy. Business 101!!!
The same can be said of some dispensaries as well, simply trying to BS and ripoff uninformed patients with their all organic this and all natural that, shameful.
The average medicinal user won't know the difference, so raise the price and up the hype. Organic Kush anyone?
So, the lovers of all things cannabis in CO and WA are only a few hazy daze away from realizing a dream.... LEGAL BUD.
Plant the seed, free the weed...

Hype or not, dispensaries are growing organically because they know it's what the consumer wants. While were on the topic of spending a fortune on nutes, check out this guys stash.
Definitely need that Voodoo Juice though, root mass is way more important than most soil growers realize.

Unfortunately, we didn't have a COW, man, because our state, Oregon, didn't, like, pass our measure.
Interesting situation living here "along the border" though...

Vancouver, Washington's just over the Columbia River, so we here kinda lucked out.
Free market forces have already begun their impact. Regular farmers, especially those with greenhouses, are coming up with business plans. It's going to be interesting to watch how far prices will come down as the market becomes more flooded and competitive. Street dealers in Portland will have to compete with ever-lower prices just across the river. Pot snobs niches (organic, artisanal, gently-aged, etc.) will crop up, in order to justify a higher price, and eventually morph into something else. It's evolutionary.
PS The outdoor farmers markets in C and W are going to be very much more fun to visit in the future.

That's not happening ever again. With this 3rd round of "quantitative easing" there is more paper than ever before in history. If its worth 200 of something it won't be federal reserve notes I can promise you that...But othwise I see your point of stoners paying its weight in gold. Proxy wars are expensive and congress has to pretend to be good... What can ya do? Go west?.......Uncle Ron wrote: ...and when gold once again returns to a more realistic value of $200ish, once again stoners will be paying more for weed than gold.

Old fart I agree with you on the organic being way better than hydro, and so do most of the grow sites lil riu , ic mag, treating yourself etc....
I have personally used both and while not a huge difference If both ways are grown by a good Gardner you can't really taste the difference.
As far as dur goes the reason a lot use hydro is that it makes bigger harvests but less quality and the salts in hydro is my much more and harder to flush than in organic mediums. This is a fact it can be researched on any of the sites mentioned.
Either way I love we'll grown bud no matter the medium.

The best quality can not be grown in large quantities. About 200 an OZ wholesale is fair based on the time and commitment it takes. A lot can go wrong in 4 to 6 months in an indoor grow. If we were growing fields of it like corn, wheat, and soybean across the midwest, then it should fetch the same prices as those. But you could only imagine the weed that comes out of large commercially grown fields can't you? I pay more for Organic milk from small producers because I can. My neighbor probably buys the hormone injected cheap shit, but we are both happy.

There is no hormone injected cheap shit. I've lived in three different states and I've never seen milk that didn't have the farmer's pledge on it, even the milk from Wal-Mart has the farmers pledge on it. Actually less than 15% of American farmers actually use hormones on their cows.milehigh wrote: My neighbor probably buys the hormone injected cheap shit, but we are both happy.

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Hollywood/ ... -war-drugs
The War on Drugs took a new turn when states like Colorado approved first the use of medical marijuana and then later the ability to possess a limited amount of the drug.
A new documentary hopes to add fuel to the anti-war fire, and it's getting some Oscar-plated endorsements along the way.
"Breaking the Taboo," debuting on YouTube Dec. 7, has recruited both Morgan Freeman and Kate Winslet to promote the notion that the War on Drugs has failed. Freeman lends his voice to the production while Winslet is part of a promotional video to gin up interest in the film.
"Taboo" also features appearances by Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, two ex-presidents who see the War on Drugs differently since leaving office.

Being from dairy-land i feel obligated to comment on the subject of milk in the CO thread
....guess everyone wants to talk about farming suddenly?......
milk genetics works like this:
cows need to be prego for milk - artificial insemination - $$$BIG PROFIT$$$
how do you get guernsey's to yield the most gallons of milk per pregnancy? Bull bank co-op + 50 years of science.
100 gallons/day > 60 gallons/day
The commercials say "Happy cows come from California", but the fact is genetics far outweighs the environment. Good feed, and plenty of water, and living organisms with top genetics thrive.

5 nanograms per mL, that's ridiculous...
Back in my Army days, I was one of my unit's piss masters. During my training, we learned that the then current levels of screening were 50ng per mL, and positives would be confirmed with a test at 25ng per mL. Also presented in the class were statements made by soldiers who tested positive, some stating that it had been more than 4 weeks since they smoked and thought they were safe. I think most casual users will be clean after 4 weeks, slightly longer for heavy users, and then there are those unfortunate stoners who may need a couple of months. It's mostly about body fat and metabolism. It's science...
Speaking of science...
BigDanHaze, how are ya?
I'm not sure what science you are talking about, but let's talk about how I flush plants when using a drip hydroponic system, k? k... thanks.
First, I unplug the pump and remove. I clean the pump, filter, main line, branch lines, and drip stakes.
Second, I drain and clean the reservoir; fill with clear water pH of 6.0; add Advanced Hydroponics Final Solution according to directions (1mL per liter).
Next, I use a 5 liter watering bucket and pour the water solution over the tops of the containers, just because I can, and I think it won't hurt.
The pump operates continuously for six hours; afterwards, I drain the reservoir and fill with clear water pH 6.0.
I set the timer to operate the pump 45 minutes every three hours; the waste is collected in a bucket and discarded. When the reservoir reaches approximately 1/3 full, I add more clear water.
I do this for seven days and then harvest. Very clean bud... always a good thing!
A question to ponder - Why does soil, organic or whatever, require upwards of two or more weeks to flush?
I wonder if it has anything to do with the possibility that the process of removing nutrients and salts from soil is a rather time consuming process, especially when compared to hydro? Maybe...
As was said, as long as it's good bud, does it really matter?
Nope, but I do like talking about it nearly as much as I like smoking it.
Happy farming...

i agree 5 nan per ml is nuts. you actually can test clean a little faster than that. i am randomly tested. when i go the dam i take 2 weeks off and go immediately for 4 days or so then head elsewhere to meet the wife. when i get back from the 4 days of smoking an unecessary amount of weed i test myself. usually all good in 12 to 14 days. 2 years ago i wwas testing clean the day i came back. last year i had to keep mildly diluted for a few days after until it was coming clean on its own. i am olderish and have about 20 extra pounds on me. i think it is the unusual case that takes a month. US bonglord ,you said something about living in boulder back in the early eighties. i went to school for two years in 1985 1986. i was on broadway at university(crown court apts ) by the sorrority houses and across from the street from bovas market. used to go to mustards last stand for hot dogs. remember the mall crawl on pearl street. we brought a couch and went as combo movers and couch potatoes. if you remember how crowded that street got on halloween you can imagine muscling through with a couch. good times while shrooming
