uncle ron, just noticed in the article that the 5 nanograms per ml is blood test. not sure what that means with regard to how much or how long ago one smoked

There are many variables...
... amount consumed
... strength in THC%
... user metabolism
... time between consumed and tested
... etc..............................................

A blood test is more suited to determine intoxication as is with alcohol, however more science is needed to determine the actual level where the user becomes impaired.
We know that a urinalysis is used to detect the presence of THC, not to determine if one is under the influence at the time of the test.
This could be the gateway to remove THC from urinalysis screenings in Colorado and Washington. I can hope, but somehow ignorance with all things cannabis seems to persevere. Small steps Ron, small steps...

I fact checked myself (what can I say, I'm a stoner and nearly 20yrs. since the job), the initial screening is at 50ng/mL and the confirmation is tested at 15ng/mL (not 25 as previously stated  )

5 nanograms per mL, that's ridiculous...
Back in my Army days, I was one of my unit's piss masters. During my training, we learned that the then current levels of screening were 50ng per mL, and positives would be confirmed with a test at 25ng per mL. Also presented in the class were statements made by soldiers who tested positive, some stating that it had been more than 4 weeks since they smoked and thought they were safe. I think most casual users will be clean after 4 weeks, slightly longer for heavy users, and then there are those unfortunate stoners who may need a couple of months. It's mostly about body fat and metabolism. It's science...
Speaking of science...

BigDanHaze, how are ya?
I'm not sure what science you are talking about, but let's talk about how I flush plants when using a drip hydroponic system, k? k... thanks. :)
First, I unplug the pump and remove. I clean the pump, filter, main line, branch lines, and drip stakes.
Second, I drain and clean the reservoir; fill with clear water pH of 6.0; add Advanced Hydroponics Final Solution according to directions (1mL per liter).
Next, I use a 5 liter watering bucket and pour the water solution over the tops of the containers, just because I can, and I think it won't hurt.
The pump operates continuously for six hours; afterwards, I drain the reservoir and fill with clear water pH 6.0.
I set the timer to operate the pump 45 minutes every three hours; the waste is collected in a bucket and discarded. When the reservoir reaches approximately 1/3 full, I add more clear water.
I do this for seven days and then harvest. Very clean bud... always a good thing! :)

A question to ponder - Why does soil, organic or whatever, require upwards of two or more weeks to flush?
I wonder if it has anything to do with the possibility that the process of removing nutrients and salts from soil is a rather time consuming process, especially when compared to hydro? Maybe...

As was said, as long as it's good bud, does it really matter?
Nope, but I do like talking about it nearly as much as I like smoking it.
Happy farming...

Sup Ron?
Ill be honest I am not too much up on the science talk...What I base everything on is my experience of 20+ years of consistent grows also a 2nd generation grower and what I read from online sources such as RIU, treating yourself, IC Mag, old OG member, and the dozens of old VHS videos and mags and books I own....
Most will simply say for Quantity and speed go hydro for Quality go Organic...Not to say hydro bud isn't good, I smoke hydro often and its some of the best there is.
BTW most people who use organic do not flush at all, imo using all organics flushing is a myth and I have never had non-burning, sparkly bud from an all organic grow ever.
As we both stated either method is good with me I do prefer organic but would never turn down top shelf hydro.
I have also read about some of your methods and they are interesting, I prefer the kiss method but some do like to have fun with their farming. Obviously they work for you. I produce more than enough for 6 months of personal every harvest 3 times per year so always have 6 months of personal in reserve, i'll stick with my methods...
Anyways, what ever works just love the herbs

Hey... :)
I wasn't into the science of growing until about 6 years ago, lots of catching up to do, seriously behind the power curve.
I'm the sort that doesn't really get into "this way or my way is better than another". I want to try different things, this way I'm able to make an informed decision on which method or technique works best for me. I'm all for the "to each their own", just don't Bogart that joint my friend.
I started taking growing seriously about six years ago when I bought my first grow tent (120x120x200cm). My first growing experience dates back to the mid 70's, which ended up being a sad experience.
With the current crop only being my second using hydro, I've been able to identify a few differences between it and soil. The main difference I've noted is that with hydro, the plants tend to grow much faster and finish a little sooner, including the data posted by breeders in their grow reports.
As I stated previously, I am enjoying the cleanliness of the hydro system, especially when time to flush. I've had bud that wasn't flushed and I could tell immediately by the chemical taste that it hadn't been. Maybe there are special organic soil mixes in which the nutrients and fertilizers are more easily removed by normal watering, I dunno... When using soil of any kind, I have and will continue to flush although not like many others who pour water 5x the volume of the container... huh? The most prevalent method I've used is I start with pouring clear water 2x the volume of the container, and then every other day with sufficient clear water so that there will be some runoff collected in the drip pan. I do this every other day for 14-21 days.

Happy and high times in CO and WA, I expect... nice.

funny weed has been "legal" here for 24 hrs and local news already are trying to smear. was a murder out in pierce county(sketchy area). there was a large scale grow..apparently the owner opened his mouth and word got out. someone came and tried to rob him. 2 people killed in the struggle and the news agencies here having headlines like "legalization violence" and "a sign of things to come?". bullshit.

Yeah, the local news media in Denver like to smear marijuana as well, it's all very subtle though. They like to bring up "local concerns" and "threats to the community".

House Bill 6606 - Basically says the federal government can't fuck with individual state's marijuana laws. I doubt it will pass, but it's nice to see congress actually doing something worthwhile for once.

I'm going to wait about a year for my first grow. By then the equipment should be dirt cheap on Craig's list.
