I can smoke here...but..in the same line..good for them...I've seen most of America so the idea of a cup here doesn't interest me personally too much but it will draw people from all over the place that might never of even thought of going to Colorado...it's nice there..I lived in boulder and Longmont in the early eighties and even then there were plenty of hippies that thought it was still 1967....you got flatland,foothills ,and mountains to explore...I recommend atrip to Estes park...the coolest place in the Rockies ..where the shining was made...good times...I Loove that people will learn to grow their own now...6 plants can go a long way in a snow storm...have fun you kids out there...adamster..isn't there a house for you to haunt?

I made a trip over to Boulder a couple of weekends ago to check out the area. More hipsters and stoners than you can shake a stick at in the downtown area. It's a very liberal city, on the way in I noticed several large Obama signs and none for Romney. I actually looked at moving to Boulder before I realized rent in the Denver area was cheaper. Denver also has better dispensaries with better prices and more of them so I got that going for me, which is nice.

Check out the menu for this dispensary. Grape Stomper at 23% THC, 74 edibles to choose from, and a nice selection of concentrates. The best part is it's literally a hop, skip, and a jump away from where I live.

I wish, I still have to go through the process of getting my medical card which might be a little while. I've heard that the dispensaries will have the option to convert to retail shops and will be given first dibs on the licenses.

My opinion, for what's it worth...
I think it's a HUGE mistake for dispensaries to convert to retail. Talk about "sell out"... What about the patients?

The thing is there aren't that many 'real' patients. I saw a local news clip on youtube where they investigated medical marijuana and they found out 90% of the 'patients' were recommended marijuana for chronic pain. So these 'patients' are usually just stoners claiming back pain or migraines to get access to dispensaries. I have a herniated disc in my lower back so I have a legitimate injury, but most people just make up some story about a nagging high school sports injury or migraine headaches and doctors write them a recommendation.

If you have something that bothers you, and cannabis relieves that, then it doesn't get any more legitimate than that. Everyone always calls bullshit (even fellow stoners) on patients and questions their intentions. You know what I call bullshit on? Prohibition. If i stub my toe, I'd rather toke a hit of kush than take an ibuprofen. A real migraine is or can be just as, if not MORE debilitating than a chronic pain type injury. I've seen people bed ridden for days strait. No light, no sound, no nothing. Solitary confinement type conditions. If "lies" is what it took to undo prohibition, then they just fought fire with fire, because nothing but lies helped shape society to accept the prohibition of it.

I can see no reason current medical outlets couldn't be the retail outlets. Setting up all new brick and morter buildings would be redundant and a complete waste of money. Personally, I see deliverly as the way to go.

I think the point is that as at present, do correct me if i'm wrong, that dispensaries have to run on a non profit basis meaning that it's all about customer satisfaction for the people who actually need medical weed. Turning these existing establishments into retail businesses takes away that duty of care replacing it with the need to turn a profit.

I imagine most regular smokers will grow their own anyway so I dont see this having a massive effect on the medical scene. There will still be collectives of medical growers helping each other out as I believe there is now.

This is a great start to legalization. Im not from the U.S. but lets hope for a knock on effect elsewhere! The chances are slim here but I'll keep dreaming

Yeah that would be harsh for real patients, but maybe they will have a special rate for medical users. Even if it's not the case, everybody will be able to grow without a risk, so the price of the weed is gonna drop a lot I think.
