I have stayed at both expensive hotels costing me a fortune with fancy restaurants and the cheapest hostels to wake up finding I had thrown up my McDonalds in my sleep.

Always found the cheaper stays were more memorable and met the more interesting people there.

Looks like we are seeing an improvement in the GBP to Euro rate due to the Cyprus banking crisis and the actions taken to resolve it, up to 1.18 Euro to the £ today and there's more improvements to come.
I think the Euro is heading for a nose dive, so a potential benefit when visiting Mokum in the near future, more to smoke for less dosh :D
Keep your eyes on the rates, could be up to pre-Christmas 2012 rates of 1.22 or so before long.
See ya at 4/20

Good news. Im flying out Monday and have been checking the rates daily. Was only 1.1 a week or 2 ago. If you take out cash from an atm you should get a much better deal with larger amounts than going to a bureau de change. I get the bank rate minus a 2 quid charge. Much less than 5p per pound like the 'comission free' exchange rates.

Damn Matty  and I thought 3000-3500usd(including airfare and hotel) was a lot for a trip.

Whoever mentioned that place on damrak is right! That place is consistently giving an extra few euros for every hundred dollars vs the Chase bank in Chicago.

Do the ATMs adjust the rate as it moves?
