The church will still 26 coffee shops in the Wallen close. Now the effects of the coalition on the soft drug policies are clear, see Mayor Eberhard van der Laan no objections.

It comes to coffee shops whose toleration permit is not renewed within the framework of Project 1012.

The council decided in mid-September the proposed closure of the coffee shops in the refrigerator to set. The occasion was the dreaded stacking effect of various government measures such as the wietpas and the distance criterion, certain that there are no coffee shops should be within 350 meters of a school.

A majority of the board was afraid that result from the 76 coffee shops on the walls eventually only 21 would remain. The fear was that it would grow explosively and nuisance street in the tourist Red Light District.

The new government of PvdA and VVD has now decided that the wietpas time being not come, and also the distance criterion of 350 meters has expired. In contrast, the discussion between Amsterdam and Minister Ivo Opstelten of Justice on the remaining criterion of 250 meters is still ongoing.

Has heard about this a while back, seems to be a rehash of the older story....unless the details are that an extension was not granted in September. Sad news indeed...great for the overall improvement of the area, shame they couldnt include modern coffeeshops in that project.
